Starfield is a vast game where you're going to spend a lot of time picking up all sorts of cool things. If you're trying to collect everything, you'll want to increase the carry weight of both yourself and your ship.
Starfield cheat: How to increase ship carry weight
If you're on PC, you can hop into the console commands by hitting the "~" key, which will open up a box at the bottom of the screen where you're able to start typing. The game will warn you certain achievements will no longer work if you put commands in, so keep that in mind if you're an achievement hunter.
Thanks to Reddit user Treason686, we know exactly how to increase your carry weight. You'll have to type "save funclist 1" into your console commands and wait a second. You'll see several things pop up. We're looking for your ship in this scenario, which will look something like the following:
FF021E52 res:75FAC3AF:00060481:A266CEB7 3362 9A0101EB 104 Your Ship Name - Base(974) Flags(6) Moved(0) Cell Changed(0) Inventory(1193) Ownership Extra(9) BaseObject(6) Link Ref Extra(17) Aliased Extra(150) Promoted(167) Leveled Inventory(1193)
Instead of seeing "Your Ship Name" in the above text, you'll instead see the name of your actual ship. You then have to select the first string, which is "FF021E52" in the above text. You do this by typing in "prid FF021E52" in your console command. This number will vary by your ship, so make sure you type in what your text says.
From there, type in the command "getav carryweight" and you should see a number come back that shows your ship's carry weight. Now you can type in "setav carryweight" followed with the number you want it to be. For example typing "setav carryweight 1000" will make it so your weight is 1,000, but you can set it to whatever you like.
Can Starfield on Xbox use console commands?
Unfortunately, this method will only work on PC as the Xbox Series X|S doesn't have access to console commands. In the past, we've seen Bethesda add mods to consoles, but that's the extent of it. This will eventually happen for Starfield, but don't expect to see console commands.
What this means is console players will have to deal with the limitations of their ship's cargo hold using in-game methods. It's not the end of the world, but it's tough to see the luxuries that PC players have been offered so far with Starfield.
