Starfield Blast Zone Mission Guide

Show these rocks who's boss.

Once I had enough Credits to build the ship of my dreams using Starfield's Puddle Trick, I continued exploring Akila City. My travels brought me to Ngodup Tate, who offered me a job and started the Blast Zone quest. While doing this quest, I ran into a bug but was able to fix it to complete the Blast Zone Mission in Starfield.

How to complete the Blast Zone Quest in Starfield

The Blast Zone quest is triggered by speaking to Ngodup Tate in Akila City. He is a real estate agent and will attempt to sell you a house. Turning him down will lead to Tate offering you a job clearing some rocks on his property. Here is what you need to know to complete the Blast Zone Quest, including any bugs, in Starfield.

Where to find Ngodup Tate in Starfield

Ngodup Tate is found in Akila City, on the planet Akila in the Cheyenne System. Once there, I followed these instructions to find him:

  • Head into the city and find the Rock.
  • Go behind the building and look to your left to find Ngodup Tate.
  • Speak to him, and he will try to sell you a home in Akila City.
  • Choose "I don't know about buying a house," then "Nice to meet you. Goodbye."

Tate will notice your mining expertise and offer you a job. Accept the job, and you'll need to clear out six pieces of Iron in Akila City's Lower Town. If you do not have a Cutter, Tate will give you one. You can use explosives, but you may injure a civilian and get a bounty. If you are having trouble finding the rocks, mark Blast Zone as your active mission to mark them on your hub. Speak to Tate after destroying the rocks to collect your reward.

Starfield Blast Zone Mission Bug - How to Fix

Some players are reporting issues with the rocks not appearing or Tate not offering the job. However, there are some solutions you can try to fix this. Here is how you can fix the rocks not spawning in the Blast Zone mission or Tate not giving you the quest in Starfield.

  • Go through all of Tate's dialogue options.
  • Go to Venus and wait 10 hours, then return.
  • Use the Command setstage 0003DC10 300 (disables achievements).

The best option is to travel to Venus and then wait. Venus' time works differently, so waiting here is much longer than anywhere else. Waiting for 10 hours typically resets the game to a degree where the rocks will spawn.
