What to do with Mech Components in Starfield

Time to make some credits!

Not everything you do around the galaxy needs to be legal. If you want, you can play a morally gray character or even a full-on villain. You'll find plenty of illicit items around the planets, and you can smuggle the contraband to earn some quick credits. Mech Components, in particular, can sell for a great chunk of credits. Here's how you should use them!

What are Mech Components in Starfield?

Mech Components are just one of the contraband items you'll find around the Settled Systems. For instance, I found some while completing a side quest in New Atlantis. They appear as fancy-looking briefcases, like many other contraband items, and come with the ensuing symbol that indicates an illegal item. They can sell for anywhere up to 12,500 credits, but you'll need to find the right places to take them.

Where to sell Mech Components and other contraband in Starfield

If you can manage to conceal contraband items while traveling around, such as by using a Shielded Cargo or Scan Jammer, then you can find a place to sell them to make some decent credits. These are the places I recommend:

Trade Authority

There is a Trade Authority in just about every major city, and they allow you to sell anything, including those illegal items. However, they won't always guarantee the best price for contraband. I would suggest using the Trade Authority at The Den for the best deal and to avoid being scanned.

Crimson Fleet Depot

If you're a member of the Crimson Fleet, it's much easier to get rid of your contraband items. You can sell to just about any vendor in The Key Depot without them batting an eye. I would suggest checking what deals each of them offer to see where you can get the most credits.

Be careful not to get caught carrying around contraband items like Mech Components. You can charged or thrown in jail. Ensure you take the proper safety precautions, like equipping your ship with some Shielded Cargo Bays, or avoiding planets where you will be scanned.
