Sainty is one of many features and mechanics in The Forest, but it remains questionable what it does. In short, the Sanity feature is vague regarding its effect on players and their progress in The Forest.
What is Sanity in The Forest?
Sainty functions similarly to other games that include a Sainty mechanic, whereas Sainty will increase or decrease depending on players' actions. However, despite seeming like an important feature, Sainty does not affect the player in any meaningful way, but Sainty is a requirement for building Effigies. In short, players need to have at least under 90 percent Sainty before the option to build and place Effigies unlocks. The following is how to raise and lower Sainty in The Forest:
- How to raise Sainty - To raise your Sainty in The Forest, you must listen to music, sit, each fresh food, and sleep.
- How to lower Sainty - If you want to reduce your Sainty in The Forest, you must kill cannibals, explore the caves, cut off limbs and eat body parts.
How to build Effigies in The Forest
To build Effigies in The Forest, you must first do a few actions that lower your Sanity to at least under 90 percent. After unlocking Effigies, you can build and place them using the following resources:
- Small Effigy - Four sticks, three rocks, three heads, two legs, and three arms.
- Arm Effigy - Seven arms, three rocks, and four sticks.
- Custom Effigy - Three rocks, two sticks.
- Large Effigy - Nine heads, four legs, nine arms, six rocks, and ten sticks.
