As with any Souls-like game, there are several stats to consider in The Last Faith. For example, early on, there is one stat you should prioritize regardless of your build.
Best early game stat in The Last Faith
Souls-like games are almost always difficult when it comes to the early game, and that remains the case in The Last Faith. This is largely because you're facing enemies that can kill you very quickly. The combination of a small health pool and dangerous enemies can make progression in The Last Faith incredibly punishing, so the fastest way to ease that difficulty curve is to invest in the Vitality stat.
Every point in Vitality boosts your maximum health pool by a considerable amount when compared to how much damage an enemy can deal to you all at once. Early in the game, it is by far the best stat to throw points into because it is applicable to any potential build. I recommend throwing at least 25 points into Vitality before allocating points to anything else, regardless of the build you're using. I'm sitting comfortably at 31 points myself and will probably stop at 40 before putting points elsewhere.
You may consider the importance of increasing your damage to deal with enemies more quickly. While this is of merit, what is far more pressing is giving yourself room to make mistakes. If you have more health, you can suffer more punishment and, therefore, can heal more often. Mistakes are how you learn in Souls-like titles, and there's no getting around that. Besides, you have more than enough damage to deal with the monsters at the beginning of the game.
