Leveling up in Unicorn Overlord is equivalent to a snail trying to cross the finish line of a 100-meter race—in short, it's slow as hell. Luckily, there are a few ways to speed things up, and I will discuss how to level up fast in Unicorn Overlord.
Best way to level up fast and farm exp in Unicorn Overlord
With Unicorn Overlord's slow exp gain, I had to pull up a few tricks to massively improve my units. Not to mention, if my units get too overpowered, I can just raise the difficulty of the game.
Level and exp farm tips and tricks
Here are a few ways on how you can get more exp per battle:
- Equip Recruit Weapons—This weapon type is available on Armorers in almost every town within the starting area. It increases the users exp gain by 20%, so you should use it on a character that's severely under-leveled.
- Equip Rookie Egg—You can get the Rookie Egg by purchasing it for 10,000G from the Armorer in Oevuille Town after you beat Tatiana during the Tormented Helm sidequest. This accessory increases your character's exp gain by 100%.
- Equip Chloe's Charm—Chloe is one of the early characters you can unlock in the game. She holds an accessory called Chloe's Charm, which increases the user's exp by an additional 30%.
- Use Royal Order—Alain's Royal Order further increases exp gain by another 100%.
- Set the game difficulty to Story mode—Story mode gives you an increased Valor gain and makes farming more efficient since you can clear enemies much faster.
With all of the accessories and equipment set above, you can get up to a max 250% increase in exp. This massive boost means you'll farm exp and levels 2.5x faster in Unicorn Overlord. You'll also be able to access much more difficult sidequests quickly with this setup.
Best location to farm exp fast
Using all of the tips above, it's time to find the best location for exp farming in Unicorn Overlord. You can do this after the tutorial area, but be careful, as you will be fighting level 13 enemies.
First, refer to the map above, where you can meet and recruit Selvie. She can unlock rock sigils for you, which are combat trials that you can clear repeatedly.
After she joins the Liberation Army, go to the northeastern area of the map (refer to the image above) to unlock your first sigil. Selvie will do some rituals, and afterward, you can enter the combat trial.
Upon entering the combat trial, immediately summon Alain's unit and cast Royal Order. Afterward, mount the catapult and strike the enemies coming from your right side. Afterward, summon a unit (Team 2) you want to level up, use Royal Order again, and have them move to the base on the right. Launch a catapult strike onto the base and let Team 2 garrison the empty area.
The next step is to clear the barricades on the lower part of the map (near the ballista) and spawn another unit (use Royal Order on Team 3). Strike the ballista with your catapult, and let them move to the empty ballista.

Mount the ballista and let Team 3 fire at all the enemies, including the boss of the entire challenge. Once you're done with the combat trial, accept your rewards and go for another round again.
