While you're playing Visions of Mana, you'll come across eight different Elemental Vessels. These special artifacts have their own amazing powers, which will help you as you journey towards the Mana Tree with your Alms. To learn where to find all Elemental Vessels in Visions of Mana, check out the guide below.
How to find every Elemental Vessel in Visions of Mana
Each of the eight Elemental Vessels will come to you as you work your way through Visions of Mana's main questline, but you may be wondering how and when they appear. When you know the kind of power these Vessels hold, it can be hard to be patient and wait for them to appear in the story. Here, you will learn where to find each Elemental Vessel in Visions of Mana.
Where to find the Wind Vessel: The Sylphid Boomerang
On your journey to meet up with the Alm of Wind, you will suddenly come across Ramcoh, a white dragon. He will meet you as you enter the Aery Vale, which is the final area before you reach Longren.
The dragon will drop the Wind Vessel in front of you - a green and white winged boomerang - formally known as the Sylphid Boomerang (named for the Element of Wind).
Two children will admit to having taken it from the village's Chief without permission and will task you with returning it because, well, you're the Soul Guard and surely the Chief can't be mad if you return it.
Continue making your way towards the village, and find the Chief. He's pretty easy to find, about halfway down the path, near the center of the village on the left.
He lets you keep the boomerang, and it officially becomes yours a little later - after Careena joins your party.
Where to find the Moon Vessel: The Luna Globe
The Moon Vessel is a yellow and orange orb surrounded by various circles. Once you reach this point in the game, you'll see similarities between the Moon Vessel - known as the Luna Globe - and the Sandglass, which the people of Etaern refer to as the keepers of time.
Morley will lead you back into the Lefeya Drifts, and down to the frozen lake at the bottom of the mountain.
Here, the Wind Vessel will light up, and that, in turn, will show that the Luna Globe is underneath the ice.
... Somehow, Morley can pick up the Luna Globe once its location is revealed.
Your party will return to Etaern, where Morley will relive the day that the Parish's people disappeared.
After the vision, Morley, as his younger self, sprints out of the gate and back to the Lefeya Drifts to look for the Luna Globe. Val picks it up from where Morley's older self had dropped it in the Parish, and runs after him.
Once they are reunited and Morley is back to his senses, you must fight a small pack of monsters. The Luna Globe will then be yours to use.
Where to find the Water Vessel: The Undine Flask
The Undine Flask is the Elemental Vessel of Water, and it is gifted to you by Prince Iain (pictured left) and Madeline (one of Morley's three adoptive sisters, pictured on the right).
The Water Vessel has been missing from Illystana for some time, but it appears that Master Passar had actually stolen it and it's been sitting in his quarters for who knows how long. Madeline was able to steal it back, and bestows it upon your party right before you venture out to the Ruins to find out why water isn't flowing in Illystana and the surrounding areas anymore.
You'll take the Undine Flask to Luka Ruins with you, and use its powers to heal your party, climb up waterfalls, and attack enemies. Once you're deep in the ruins, you'll run into Passar and his lackies, who admit to trying to steal the throne from Palamena and Prince Iain.
He then sets a giant crab-like creature on you, which you'll need to defeat before you can get back to the palace.
The fight isn't easy, but I recommend a lot of ranged attacks - so make sure that you've got ability seeds equipped to your wheels!
Once you're victorious, you'll end up back by the huge fountain in Illystana, where Palamena will officially become the Alm of Water. The Undine Flask will remain with you to use on your journey.
Where to find the Fire Vessel: The Salamando Candle
In the Free City of Tsaata, you will be introduced to Tsaata Dweller Glyff. At first, he seems a little aggravating; asking Val far too many questions and filling his head with doubts that he already has at this point in the game.
The only reason you're talking to him is because you need to take a boat over to Gudju.
Palamena starts to feel lightheaded, and Glyff suggests that Val takes her up to the cape (the highest point of the city). While you're up there, you'll witness the strange waves that are stopping boats from sailing out of Tsaata.
Palamena seems to be called towards the waves, and almost goes head-first over the cliff. Good thing she's not up there by herself.
Val and Palamena return to the center of the city to meet with the other Alms and decide to head out to the Tatoh Temple the next day to try and fix the issues with the waves. Glyff approaches the group and offers the Salamando Candle, which has been in the Free City of Tsaata for many years.
He reveals that it was once guarded by Tianeea (which makes sense because Tianeea is the Fire Village), but it came to be in the possession of the people of Tsaata after "much time and many owners" - likely the journeys of past Soul Guards and Alms.
The Salamando Candle is now yours to take with you on your journey.
Where to find the Earth Vessel: The Gnome Shovel
In Gudju Village, you'll meet Watts, who seems to be the only villager still hanging around - and who can blame him when the village is covered in dirt and basically in ruins?
The group lets Watts know that they're looking for Gnome, the Earth Elemental. But, Gnome hasn't been seen since the disaster. Val then asks him about Lyza and, well... Watts suggests that he heads to the Eastern Plateau to see for himself.
Follow the guiding star to where Lyza was turned to stone, let Val have his moment of grief, and Watts will pop back up.
He offers you the Gnome Shovel, which is the Vessel of Earth.
From here, you'll head to the Mines, and the Gnome Shovel will become incredibly useful as you open the various locks and gates stopping you from finding Gnome.
Where to find the Wood Vessel: The Dryad Sprig
The quickest Vessel to get to is the Wood Vessel. To find the Dryad Sprig, you must reach the point in the game where you meet Julei.
Julei is the current custodian in Verdous Borough, charged with looking after his friends until one of them awake to become the Alm of Wood. But, surprise surprise, it's Julei's turn to become the Alm of Wood! All it takes is Dryad, the Wood Elemental, showing up after your battle with the Grapplavine for Julei's flower to appear.
Once that happens and Julei is officially named the Alm of Wood by Dryad and Faerie, Julei will be called by one of his friends.
Run over to that planted friend, who talks to Julei about his duty as the Alm of Wood, and offers the Dryad Sprig to aim him on his way.
They forgot to give it back before falling asleep. Classic.
Where to find the Light Vessel: The Lumina Lantern
After a rather intense scene with Eoren in the Sanctuary Entrance, you'll need to head back to Gudju.
Once you're there, Watts will tell you to hurry to the Eastern Plateau. I won't tell you what happens because it's really something that you need to experience for yourself. After that cutscene, you'll speak to Watts again and Gnome will pop up looking a bit harried.
Your next stop is the Dyluck outside of Gudju in the desert. Follow the star marker out there to find the ship in the sand and fight Garethe, the Benevodon of Earth.
If you're wondering how to beat the Benevodon of Earth in Visions of Mana, I can give you a few quick pointers here:
- The Benevodon of Earth has two circular areas on each side that you can aim for with the canons on the ship. When they're open and yellow, you'll do more damage when you hit them. But, you can hit them when they're closed.
- I basically had Val damage the Benevodon while the rest of my party took care of the other monsters. It worked fine, and I was working with my top combination of Fire Val, Moon Careena, and Wood Julei.
- You can get three hits in with the canons before the Benevodon will move or try to attack you. When it attacks, it can make giant rocks fall on the ship. Avoid the rocks.
- When the Benevodon of Earth is down to its last bit of health, it will suddenly rise up from the sand. Use the canons to fire at its mouth. After a couple of hits, it should be defeated.
Following this fight, Careena suddenly notices the Lumina Lantern on the deck of the ship. Funny how that works.
Where to find the Darkness Vessel: The Shade Sight
This is possibly the funniest way to find an Elemental Vessel in Visions of Mana.
After arriving at Log'grattzo and meeting Aesh in the Dark Archives, you'll be led back outside to find out that part of the building isn't in great condition. Every four years - when the Alm of Darkness is chosen - the scholars there remember to replace the support that stops that part of the building from just collapsing.
They haven't done it yet this year because the Faerie hasn't come to announce who the new Alm will be. Shocker.
Go back into the Dark Archives, go talk to the apprentice who didn't do his job, and then go down the stairs. There are a few people to talk to, talk to the one with the weirdly big fork. Yes, I'm serious.
Take the fork back to Aesh, the current makeshift support will be replaced with it.
Oh, look, it's the Vessel of Darkness.
That's right, they used the Vessel of Darkness as a building support.
You now have the Shade Sight, which means you have all eight Vessels in Visions of Mana. Congrats!
