Do you have every melee weapon, but feel like you're craving more CQC goodness? Well, perhaps building your own is what you need in life. Here's everything we know about Zaws in Warframe.
What is a Zaw in Warframe?
Zaws are craftable, custom-made melee weapons that are made up of three separate components. Each component modifies the final stats of the weapon and are essential to the crafting process. There are many types of Zaw components, and most, if not all, are interchangeable with one another, allowing for significant customization. Each of the three components have distinct names to make it easy to keep track of them:
- Strikes - the top of the Zaw, modifies its damage ratio, critical stats, status effects, and speed
- Grips - the middle of the middle of the Zaw, modifies base attack speed, base damage, and whether it is one-handed or two-handed
- Links - the bottom of the Zaw, adds additional stat bonuses and inflicts penalties depending on the component used
As mentioned earlier, there are a large number of each type of component, and each component dramatically alters the end result of a Zaw.
Where to build a Zaw in Warframe
Zaws are assembled at Hok's Anvil on Earth, in the Cetus settlement. He allows you to buy new component blueprints and begin the crafting process itself. Simply ask him to begin forging a Zaw, select the three components you want to use, and then you'll have yourself your own personal melee weapon in no time at all. Don't forget to give it a fitting name for your legacy!
Zaws work like any other weapon once built. They can be modded with melee mods and leveled up in the same manner. They also have access to their own Arcanes, so keep that mind as well.
