Servofish are the fish native to Orb Vallis on Venus. You'll need to spear a good few Servofish of various rarities for both manufacturing purposes and to complete weekly missions, so knowing where the rarest of these mechanical marvels lurk is a good idea.
Preperation
Rare Servofish can be caught just by standing next to a hotspot in a body of water (or sludge as it more aptly resembles) but you'll be a much happier camper if you do some prep work first.
The Business in Fortuna sells various types of baits that can be used at hotspots in Orb Vallis to attract certain types of Servofish. There are three types of rare Servofish to go after:
- Tromyzon Servofish
- Charamote Servofish
- Synathid Servofish
The easiest one to quickly farm is the Tromozyn Servofish. They are available for longer periods of time and more often than the other two.
Luminous Dye or an Oxylus sentinel with a Scan Aquatic Lifeforms mod are both fantastic for fishing. Both will highlight fish to make them easily noticeable.
Luminous Dye can be obtained for 100 standing from Hai-Luk on Cetus. It's cheap but is consumable and temporary. Making an Oxylus sentinel requires rank five with Solaris United and 20,000 standing to purchase the blueprint from The Business in Fortuna but is permanent.
A Shockprod Fishing Spear or Stunna Fishing Spear (both sold by The Business) are also good to have but we have found that spears from Cetus can also work decently in a pinch.
Locations
To our knowledge, rare Servofish will only appear in or around hotspots. Hotspots are glowing patches of oddly-colored sludge, as pictured above.
Tromyzon Servofish will appear mostly in ponds while Orb Vallis is cold while Charamote and Synathid Servofish will both appear in caves while Orb Vallis is warm. Orb Vallis is warm for just under seven minutes in a cycle while it's cold for 20 minutes, making the former Servofish more reasonable to farm.
A pond on Orb Vallis is defined as any body of sludge that Servofish will spawn in that is not the large body of sludge in front of the Fortuna entrance and the large pool behind the Fortuna entrance. Those two specifically are lakes. If you are unsure if you're at a pond or a lake, note that Sapcaddies spawn in lakes and Tinks spawn in ponds.
Any body of sludge in a cave that can have a hotspot will have Charamote and Synathid Servofish potentially available so long as Orb Vallis is in its brief warm cycle.
