With the new The Beast Hunt DLC added to Wartales, a new profession has been added to the Free DLC, which is the Huntsman. This new profession brings along new tamable beasts, craftable items, and many other additions that you can unlock. So, to help you make the most out of it, here's a complete Huntsman build guide for Wartales.
How to Unlock Huntsman in Wartales

To discover the Huntsman profession, set out on the world map and watch for glowing red paw icons, these mark animal traces like paw prints or broken camps. Interact with any of these clues to begin Huntsman encounters.
Alternatively, once you install The Beast Hunt DLC, seek out the Master Trackers within the new region, Brigga. He will teach your mercenaries the art of the hunt and grant access to the Huntsman job. Then you can add it to one of your companions.
Best Build for Huntsman in Wartales

A strong Huntsman build is ideal for certain classes like the Beastmaster. Ideally, you should equip your Huntsman with Hunting Gear (craftable at camp) and accessories that boost ranged damage, Crit chance, and tracking proficiency.
During combat, they should be paired with animals, if you want to get the most value out of them. Specifically, they should either be the newly added Fierce Animals or Bears. Also, position them behind a sturdy frontline mercenary to soak damage while your Huntsman picks off enemies from range or lays traps.
How to Level Up Huntsman Job Quickly
Leveling the Huntsman profession revolves around three core activities. So, here's how you can level up quickly:
- Capturing Animals: Successfully subdue and tame beasts during encounters to earn significant Huntsman XP.
- Using Hunting Gear: Assign a mercenary to operate the camp’s Hunting Gear during rests. Passive fang and meat production will grant you extra XP.
- Examining Traces: Whenever you investigate paw prints or carcasses on the map, you’ll receive Huntsman XP alongside clues that lead to powerful “Fierce Animals.”
Focusing on these three actions will help you quickly level up your Huntsman from Novice to Master, unlocking new perks.
Huntsman Profession - Perks & Benefits

The Huntsman profession introduces four proficiency tiers, each providing new and stronger perks:
- Novice: Guarantees additional loot from battles against wild creatures.
- Apprentice: Increases the experience gained by your tamed animals.
- Journeyman: Reduces daily food consumption for all animals under your command.
- Master: Grants a chance to discover extra loot whenever you examine a trace in the field.
On top of these, the DLC adds “Fierce Animals”, which are elite variants with enhanced HP, ATK, and dual accessory slots that are perfect for larger teams that you'll need to beat The Beast.
How to Unlock the Huntsman Backstory
To start your campaign with the specialized Huntsman backstory “Hunters always on the lookout for new prey,” your companions in a playthrough must meet one of the following conditions:
- Include at least one Experienced (or higher) Huntsman.
- Complete the main storyline of any region.
- Finish a contract in a region other than Tiltren.
This backstory grants 5 Game Meat, 5 Traps, and imposes –5 Influence, as the list of bonuses and debuffs.
