As you build up a troop of companions in medieval RPG Wartales, they’ll level up and you can choose them new skills. If you want to change those skills, or learn new ones, read below for my guide on how to find a trainer in Wartales.
Where to train companions in Wartales
Wartales trainer locations - Brotherhood Training Grounds

The most common way of training your companions in Wartales is at the Brotherhood Training Grounds. There is one Brotherhood Training Ground in every region of the game and they all offer the same services, although the Manuals they offer are randomized. The map marker is always the same (see above), so they’re easy to spot too.
Each of the Brotherhood Training Grounds offers the following training services:
- Respecialisation: Respecialisation costs 500 Krowns. It allows you to completely respec any of your companions, taking them back to level 1 in terms of their skills and specialization so you can build them again in anyway you wish. Note you will lose any benefit from Skill Mastery or Manuals you’ve given this companion if you reset them.Â
- Skill Mastery: Most companion skills can be mastered by using a Skill Mastery book. These can be found as rare drops but can also be bought from the Brotherhood Training Grounds for 360 Krowns each. Once you have a Skill Mastery book in your inventory, open a companion’s sheet and look at the skills section. Any skill that can be mastered will have a yellow arrow on it. If you hover over that skill it will show you the upgrade effect. Simply right-click the skill to improve it.
- Manuals: Manuals are books that can be used to give one of your companions a new skill for the price of 360 Krowns. Once you own a manual, choose the companion you want to learn the skill and right-click the manual. Make sure you’re not in a shop transaction at the time as this will instead sell the manual.
Wartales trainer locations - Bandits' Lair

If you can’t find the Manuals you want at the training grounds or want to save some Krowns, you can also check any Bandit Camps you’ve liberated. The Black Market Agent at each bandit camp will sell you Manuals for 180 Krowns. While this is a great bargain, note that these items count as stolen in your inventory so you should use them straight away. Otherwise, you’ll have to deal with the Guard if you meet them on the road (either giving up the Manuals or paying a fine).
