Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty has a very healthy assortment of spells to learn and invoke on the battlefield. However, some spells clearly stand above the rest, especially early in the game. Some of these spells even remain strong later on, which is why it can daunting to figure out which ones you should use at the beginning. Thankfully, we've spilled enough blood in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty to give you an idea of which Wizardry spells you should use early in the game.
Best Spells in Wo Long Fallen Dynasty early game
Best Wood Spells
Wood spells favor the Lightning element, but also feature many different useful buffs. The best Wood spells you should use, should choose this element as your own, are:
- Absorb Vitality - A deceptively strong ability that seems weak at first glance. Landing blows restores health based on your damage done. Early in the game, you cannot deal all that much normally, but Fatal Blows always deal massive amounts, which is when you should utilize this.
- Inner Breath - Your Divine Beast is easily one of the strongest tools in your arsenal, especially early in the game. This buff lets you use it more. Enough said.
- Lightning Weapon - Imbues your weapon with the Lightning element. Every blow you land will deal extra Lightning damage, and build the Shock status making this a solid buff even later in the game.
Best Fire Spells
Fire spells favor dealing damage, either all at once or over time through the Burn status. The spells we recommending from the Fire Tree are the following:
- Amplify Damage - One of the few buffs within the Fire tree, this ability massive boosts all of your damage, even spells from other Wizardry schools. You'll take more damage if you get hit though, so be careful.
- Blasting Flare - A very strong, melee-ranged burst of flame that deals high damage, is fast, and requires very little to unlock. This spell is strong enough to remain useful even later in the game
- Fireblast - A solid, ranged fire spell that deals moderate damage from a distance. This spell has a quick cast and applies a healthy amount of Burn status to any target it hits.
- Flame Weapon - Imbues your weapon with the Fire element. Every blow you land will deal extra Fire damage, and build the Burn status effect making this a solid buff even later in the game.

Best Earth Spells
Earth spells favor movement inhibition and defensive options for you to abuse. As such, the best early Earth spells you should use are:
- Enhanced Defense - A long-lasting buff that gives you strong damage reduction and makes it so you won't flinch against weak attacks. This is a very strong buff and we highly recommend using it early on so your swings and casts don't get interrupted.
- Stone Weapon - Imbues your weapon with the Earth element. Every blow you land will deal extra Earth damage, and build the Heaviness status effect making this a solid buff even later in the game.
- Mighty Shockwave - A damaging Earth spell with a strong AOE (Area of Effect) component. This spell works well for dealing with groups of weak enemies, as well as, keeping stronger enemies at bay.
Best Metal Spells
Metal spells favor poison and debuffing your foes. As such, the Metal spells you should use are:
- Life Wither - A strong debuff that increases the damage the afflicted target takes from all sources for a time. Debuffs of this type tend to last well beyond the early game.
- Poison Bubbles - Launches a projectile that leaves a patch of poison on the ground. Enemies that stand within the poison will begin accumulating the Poison status effect and take light damage over time. A strong, cheap, method to apply Poison and is a solid area denial tool.
- Toxic Weapon - Imbues your weapon with the Toxic element. Every blow you land will deal extra Toxic damage, and build the Poison status effect making this a solid buff even later in the game.

Best Water Spells
Water spells tend to favor buffs and offensive abilities that deal moderate damage, but quickly build up the Chill status effect. As such, we recommend you use:
- Unseeable Form - An early spell that is very useful to players interested in picking and choosing their targets. Note that you are not totally invisible, but are, instead, very hard to detect.
- Frozen Spear Trap - Place an icy patch on the ground below you. If an enemy touches this patch, it will explode, dealing moderate ice damage in an AOE. This is an amazing area denial tool at all points in the game due to its ability to stagger some foes within its radius.
- Ice Weapon - Imbues your weapon with the Ice element. Every blow you land will deal extra Ice damage, and build the Chill status effect making this a solid buff even later in the game.
Remember, you can mix and match these spells within your four available slots however you like, so don't just focus on one school unless the build you have in mind demands it.
