Why Wordle is giving two different words for day 284

Wordle players are experiencing extreme confusion as the word for 284 seems to be split and some players are getting an entirely different word. Some have become worried that this might be part of permanent changes to the game made by the New York Times. Thankfully, it is not meant to be any permanent or official alteration to a game. The glitch seems to be caused by a cataloging issue from when NYT overtook the site, as speculated by players on Reddit.

How to fix Wordle two words issue

Since this error is part of the data that is stored on your browser (which includes the data used to make up your streak), it makes sense that the bug can likely be fixed by resetting that data. Users have been able to remedy the issue by using a Reset provided by New York Times. Some users have lost their streak by doing this, but others have not.
