How long do Joyous Journeys last in WoW Wrath of the Lich King (WOTLK)

Get ready to level.

Leveling up can be a slog in World of Warcraft Wrath of the Lich King, but Blizzard is making things easier by bringing back Joyous Journeys. Here's what you need to know.

When does Joyous Journeys begin in WOTLK?

Joyous Journeys are back in WOTLK Classic beginning May 23, and they'll be around leading us into the launch of the next raid tier following Ulduar. In this case, it's going to be the Trial of the Crusader raid.

The TotC raid tier begins June 20, so Joyous Journeys will be taking players all the way up to that point. Blizzard confirmed Joyous Journeys will end June 19 in WOTLK Classic. This lines up with how the Joyous Journeys buff has been handled in the past. There's still about a month of boosted XP being handed out, so players have plenty of time to take advantage of it.

What is Joyous Journeys in WOTLK?

For players looking to level up another character in WOTLK, or even level for the first time, it's a good idea to start when the Joyous Journeys buff is active. This gives a 50 percent XP gain to players doing all content, meaning things go a whole lot faster.

When paired with rested XP when staying at an inn and some Heirloom gear, gear that can be worn by low level players that also give boosted XP, the experience gains come in even faster. The buff comes at a time when the previous raid is winding down and players are getting ready for a new one to release. It gives people time to level up alt characters to raid with, or it just lets people play through the leveling experience yet again, albeit at a faster rate.

This experience buff does not apply to Classic Era or Retail WoW, so don't expect to level another character quicker anywhere other than Wrath of the Lich King. Luckily, a new Season of Mastery and Hardcore servers are right around the corner.
