How to lookup a character in World of Warcraft

Take a deeper look.

It can be tough to keep track of all of your World of Warcraft characters, especially if you're somebody who likes to try out new classes like Dragonflight's Evoker. Luckily, there's an easy way to do it without even having to log in, and you can also look up characters that aren't yours. Here's how to make it happen.

How to lookup characters in World of Warcraft

The simplest way to lookup a character would be by heading to the official World of Warcraft website and typing in the character's name. This will bring up a list of players with the same name across each server, so finding the correct server is vital to ensure the correct character is being looked at.

Doing this will show the character's gear, their raid progress over the years, and even their Mythic+ rating for the current season. For many players, that's enough to know about a particular character, but there are more in-depth options out there as well.

What are other ways to lookup characters in WoW?

Using Warcraft Logs, players can type in a name just like the WoW website, but it'll give more information about the player. For example, the character will show up just like they do on WoW's site, but it'll show individual stats about certain bosses from a raid. If the character has cleared any parts of the raid, their parses will show up, displaying just how effective they were on that boss.

Guild leaders can use information like this to determine whether potential recruits would be a good fit for their guild. Parses are certainly not the only way to tell if a character is good at playing their class, but it provides a good window into whether or not that's the case.

Another website like Warcraft Logs is Raider.io, and there are a lot of similarities between the two at first glance. Raider.io shines in its Mythic Plus breakdown as it shows how well a player performed in a certain dungeon by showing the highest level keystone they've completed and what score they got on it. This alone makes it the go-to tool for Mythic Plus players.
