Best Places for using Food Buffs in Wuthering Waves

Some Wuthering Waves food for thought.

Food Buffs in Wuthering Waves aren’t always necessary, especially given how easy most of the open-world content tends to be. That said, there are specific places where using the right food at the right time can offer major advantages, whether you’re trying to survive intense fights or optimize your farming efficiency.

The Best Places to Use Food Buffs in Wuthering Waves

If you’re wondering when and where to pop those consumables you’ve been hoarding, I've got the answers below. While there aren’t many places in the game where food buffs truly matter, the few that do are absolutely worth your attention.

Hologram Challenges

Holograms in Wuthering Waves represent some of the most difficult content in the game. These battles feature powerful, high-HP enemies that demand precise timing, strong builds, and often a solid understanding of enemy mechanics. While skilled players can overcome these challenges without any consumable support, the reality is that Food Buffs can make a substantial difference, especially in terms of raw damage output and survivability.

Using attack-boosting dishes or defensive health regeneration foods during Hologram encounters can help you close out fights faster and safer. If you’re struggling to clear higher-difficulty versions or just want to reduce the risk of wiping, now’s the time to dig into your food inventory and use your best buffs.

Overworld Echo Farming

For the most part, the overworld in Wuthering Waves is relatively low-stakes. Most enemies are easy to dispatch without any buffs. However, if you’re trying to farm Echoes, especially from enemies with limited respawn timers, there’s one food item that changes everything: Sweet and Sour Pork.

This specific dish boosts your Echo Drop Chance by 50% for 30 minutes, which is massive when you’re doing targeted Echo hunts. Whether you're farming for rare Echoes to complete your collection or trying to get a specific Echo with perfect substats, this food can help you get the drops you need without burning through unnecessary time.

Just note: Sweet and Sour Pork’s Echo drop buff only applies to Echoes found in the overworld, not from simulacrums, or other special encounter types.

How to Get the Sweet and Sour Pork Recipe

To unlock the Sweet and Sour Pork recipe, you’ll need to progress through the Windchimer Delivery side activity found in Mt. Firmament. Specifically, this recipe is a reward for reaching Level 4 of the Repaired Strings, Preserved Melodies progression path.

You can begin this process after completing the Main Quest: Thaw of Eons. Once unlocked, you’ll be able to deliver Windchimers to Xian’ge, an NPC located in Mt. Firmament. There are six total delivery levels, and each level is determined by the number of Windchimers you’ve turned in.

Thankfully, there are more Windchimers in the overworld than you need to max out this out, so you don’t have to stress about missing any. Once you reach Level 4, the Sweet and Sour Pork recipe will be automatically granted, allowing you to cook it anytime, so long as you have the required ingredients
