Wuthering Waves Pity System – WuWa pity, soft pity & more!

Time to get some Resonators!

Like most of the other gacha games out there, Wuthering Waves players need to use a semi-randomized summoning to get new characters. In WuWa, this system is called a Convene, and it has a built-in pity system to help you get what you want from your summons.

When you purchase a summon with Lustrous Tide in Wuthering Waves, you can use it to get a random character, item, or weapon in the game. In these types of randomized games, many have something called a pity system, which means that the odds of getting the best possible character or item in a gacha pull are not 100% random. Wuthering Waves has a pity system to prevent players from getting too unlucky.

  • For each 10 pulls of the Convene system, you are guaranteed a four-star item or better. The base four-star drop rate in WuWa is six percent, and the average drop rate is 12 percent.
  • Five-star weapons and characters have guarantee BEFORE 80 pulls, so you will see at least one five-star in every 80 Convenes. The standard drop rate for five stars is a little under one percent, and the average drop rate is a little less than two percent.

Characters, called Resonators in WuWa, are not 100% guaranteed to be the one you want after 80 pulls; you are only guaranteed one of the possible five-star characters after the 80 Convenes.

For example, if you get a five-star character from the Prevail the Last Night banner, you only have a 50% chance it will be the Jiyan, the header character for that particular banner. It much like Hoyo's Genshin Impact that way.

The one exception to this 80-pulls rule is the Utterance of Marvels Wuthering Waves beginner banner. This permanent banner gives a guarantee after just 50 pulls, meaning that it has slightly different percentages for Convenes than the limited-time banners will. You are still guaranteed a four-star drop after 10 pulls.

  • Four-star drop rates for Utterance of Marvels is about 6%
  • Four-star average drop rate is almost 12%
  • Five-star drop rates for Utterance of Marvels is a little less than 1%
  • Average five-star drop rates are 2.4%

What is soft pity in Wuthering Waves?

Soft pity is a sloping drop rate as you continue to pull in a Gatcha game. This means that if you, for example, have a 1% drop rate for a five-star on your very first pull, you might have a 1.1% drop rate for a five-star on the second pull if you are unsuccessful on the first.

This means you get a slightly better chance at pulling a five-star the more you pull, and it raises the average drop rate over the baseline drop rate.

Does Wuthering Waves have soft pity?

Soft pity is not confirmed for Wuthering Waves at the moment. However, the safest thing you can do if you're extremely unlucky, like some of us, is to start single pulls at 71. You're always guaranteed a five start in that last batch of 10, so you can get it anywhere from your first to your tenth pull.
