Getting the special edition of a game always come with an array of goodies that you can claim, and Yakuza: Like a Dragon is no different, as you get a boatload of items! However, it's how you claim these items are the problem, as the game doesn't do a great job of explaining this to you!
Yakuza Like a Dragon How to Get DLC Items
To get the DLC items is surprisingly straight forward in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, just open up your smartphone from the start menu, and then navigate to DLC, the icon with the box. By clicking on this, it'll show you all of the DLC items you own for Yakuza: Like a Dragon. However, it takes a while before you can.
Depending on what version of Yakuza: Like a Dragon you purchased, the amount of DLC items you have will differ. If you have the Legendary Hero Edition, then you'll have a stack load of DLC items that you can use. Nevertheless, the game doesn't tell you when these items become usable.
Open up the main menu, Esc if playing on PC, Start or Options if playing on console, navigate to Smartphone, then find the DLC box item, and everything is there. Remember, you do not get the Smartphone straight as the game starts. The plot has to happen before this is given to you.
As you scroll down the list, you'll notice that some DLC items have a number next to the name, and others have an On instead. The number means that once you claim it, it'll disappear from the DLC items list, and it'll the items will appear in your inventory alternatively. The On means that those items will not disappear, that they will always be toggled on in the DLC menu.
With the DLC items toggled On, this means that whenever you can access them, the game will tell you with a notification. Say the two extra jobs, the Devil Rocker and the Matriarch, these are not usable until Chapter 5, but the game will tell you when you can they are accessible.
However, they are always on from the get-go but when you can use them is a different matter, as the majority of the items cannot be used until you hit Chapter 4/5, such as when you get access to the Romance Workshop and where you can change your jobs and change your job outfits. Everything kicks off in these two Chapters, so it might be best waiting till then to claim everything.
If you are starting the game, you are probably wondering how many substories in the Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and if you are changing your jobs for the first time and using the Enforcer job, you probably thinking where you can buy shields!?
