All Animal Food Recipes in Zoochosis and how to make food

It's mystery meat alright

When it comes to preparing food for the animals in each of the enclosures in Zoochosis, there are a few important steps to consider. The tutorial briefly explains how the process works, but leaves the rest of it up to you to figure out as you play. However, we've provided an easy-to-follow guide that shows you all animal food recipes in Zoochosis and how to make food.

How to make food for animals in Zoochosis

Cold Room and Brick Trolley in Zoochosis

First of all, food in the game is made from Food Bricks that are stored in the Cold Room area of the Hub (as seen above), which the Doc shows you during the Tutorial. To access the Cold Room, you need to unload the Brick Trolley from the train (if it's not already) and push it along the track until it opens the doors to the freezer. Inside, you'll find Food Bricks in loading bins for all the following categories:

  • Vegetable
  • Herbal
  • Fish
  • Meat

It's important to note that each type of food is available in limited quantities throughout the game. As indicated by the numbers on the wall next to each loading bin, you start the game with access to 20 KG of each type of food (except for Meat). If the bin runs out of bricks, you can pull the level on the wall next to it to restock it with more, but the number will go down as you do. So make sure to use them wisely.

Before you head to a new animal enclosure, be sure to gather the food bricks you need to make their specific food. Load them onto the Brick Trolley and push it back to the train. Pull the Brick Trolley level on the side of the train to load it inside, and then board the train. We suggest preparing your food before you head to the enclosure, in case of any mistakes and to save yourself time.

All food is prepared at the Kitchen-Factory station on the train (as seen above), and what you loaded onto the Brick Trolley is the supply you'll have access to.

Interact with the computer above the counter to get started, and you'll see a menu with a list of all of the zoo's animal species on the left followed by the ingredients required for their food. The 'Deviation' column on the right refers to the limit to which you can either over or undercut the approved portion of food. If you exceed the allowed deviation percentage for the recipe, the food may make the animals sick.

Select the animal you want to make food for, and the recipe will be listed in the middle of the screen. When you're ready, click 'Cook' and select which type of brick you want to cut first. Select 'Cut' and the brick will be placed on the counter, with a red laser indicating where you will cut.

Important: Slide the portion of the brick that you want to use for food to the RIGHT side of the cutting blade. What remains on the left is what will be left over.

The computer will indicate how much is needed from that brick, and the total weight of the brick itself below it. Estimate as close as possible to that requirement and then cut to place it in the mix. Your deviation percentage will be noted afterward. If you manage to get 0.00% deviation after cutting, you can unlock the 'Food Ninja' achievement.

Remember that you don't need to do this for every single animal in an enclosure; you only need to make one batch of food for the entire enclosure, as it will automatically feed all of them. Once you've fed them, you can then continue with getting the samples and readings you need.

How to feed mutated animals in Zoochosis

The other tab on the computer at the Kitchen-Factory station pertains to the recipes for various mutated variants of animals, once you've progressed far enough in the game. You'll notice that they all require meat, which is also indicated in Anthony Hapwood's floppy disk recordings.

These are the only recipes that require meat, and it only serves to calm (or distract) the mutated animals while you decide whether to euthanize them or cure their condition.

All animal food recipes in Zoochosis

Below we've listed all current animal food recipes in Zoochosis and the ingredients required to make them. Remember that these recipes can be viewed on posters in the Cold Room at the Hub as well. While your PDA makes note of the posters, it does not store the recipes themselves.
