How to equip and unequip mask and headgear in Black Myth: Wukong

Can't unequip mask?

In Black Myth Wukong, you can customize your character by discovering and equipping new equipment such as masks, clothes, wristwraps, and staff. If you've purchased the deluxe edition of the game, the monkey will come pre-equipped with the Folk Opera Mask headgear, and here's how to unequip it.

To equip and unequip mask and headgear in Black Myth Wukong, you need to visit the Settings menu. Go to the Gameplay tab by clicking on the cog wheel icon (the third option on the left column). Set the Show Headgear setting to Off (see image above) to hide the headgear worn by your character during the gameplay.

In the Equipment menu, where all your customizable wearables and items are displayed, you'll find the headgear section as well. This section will show you any mask that you have currently equipped on your character and allow you to change it. If you have only one headgear in your inventory, it'll be automatically equipped and you will not able to unequip it from here.

All you can do in the Equipment menu is swap between different available masks if you have multiple. Therefore, the only way to unequip the mask in Black Myth Wukong (for now) is by disabling the headgear visibility in the settings as I've explained previously.

Turning off the Show Headgear gameplay setting simply prevents the game from showing whatever mask you've put on and not remove it completely. This means that the stats of the mask you're currently equipping as your equipment (for instance, defense and other skills) will still apply to your character; you simply will not be able to see the mask during the gameplay.
