How to Summon and Defeat Moon Lord in Palworld

You think you're strong? Think again.

The Moon Lord is a new raid boss that Pocketpair added with the Terraria update for Palworld. It's one of the most challenging raid bosses present in the game so far.

While the encounter is difficult, you'll have to jump through a few hoops, and even defeat another monstrosity before you even have the chance to summon the Moon Lord in Palworld. The rewards however, make the entire exercise a fruitful one, so rest assured that you'll be rewarded well for all your efforts. Just like the other raid bosses, you need to place a specific item at a Summoning Altar. The item that you need to use needs a schematic that's located within the Terraria dungeon in Palworld.

How to Find the Terraria Dungeon in Palworld

Finding the new Terraria Dungeon is probably the easiest part of the entire process of summoning and defeating the Moon Lord in Palworld. To get to this place, make your way to the Fisherman's Village fast travel point and then travel to the tiny island where you'll find the Sealed Realm of Terraria fast point (-420, -794).

Here, you should spot a platform, and on top of it is the entrance to the Terraria dungeon. Remember, this is a level 45 dungeon, so if you're any level below that, you're bound to struggle. Even if you have allies like Zoe with you, you're still going to struggle.

How to Get the Celestial Sigil Schematic in Palworld

The Celestial Sigil is the item that you need to summon the Moon Lord in Palworld, and the only way to get the schematic is by completing the Terraria dungeon. As you navigate your way through the various tunnels, you will spot a shiny material. Mining this material will give you Hallowed Bars, an item needed to craft various Terraria Armor.

There are three ways to find Hallowed Bars inside the Terraria dungeon:

  • Mining them from walls.
  • Breaking pots
  • Defeating the final boss

Always remember to bring your Pickaxe with you. Not only will you need this item to mine the Hallowed Bars, but you'll also need to use it to break through different walls which act as obstacles in your path.

Keep making your way through to dungeon till you finally come across the Grand Archway. Behind this archway is the Eye of Cthulu, a creature straight out of Lovecraftian lore. The fight is fairly straightforward. All you need to do is bring out your strongest Pal and rain hell on this creature. You can either kill it, or you can also choose to capture it.

When you defeat him, you receive the Eye of Cthulu Mask, a powerful piece of gear. Additionally, as you're about to exit the Terraria dungeon in Palworld, you'll see two chests beside the door. Both these chests contain Hallowed Bars and a schematic for the Celestial Sigil. Although you need the schematic just once, you can still get it at the end of every dungeon run.

How to Craft the Celestial Sigil to Summon the Moon Lord in Palworld

To craft the Celestial Sigil, make your way back to your base and use the Primitive work bench. It takes 100 Hallowed Bars to make one Celestial Sigil, but since you've gone through the Terraria Dungeon, that shouldn't be a problem for you.

After you've build the Celestial Sigil to summon the Moon Lord in Palworld, you'll need to build a Summoning Altar. If you haven't unlocked it yet, you can do so from the Ancient Technology research tab, but you need to be at least level 32 to unlock the item for crafting.

Before you summon the Moon Lord, make sure to clear out your base (it's best if you use a third base for this setup to avoid having your Buildings destroyed), and set your most powerful Pals on the base's roster. This way, they'll be able to assist you in the fight. After you've set everything up, you can now place the Summoning Altar and inside it the Celestial Sigil to call upon the Moon Lord.

How to Defeat the Moon Lord in Palworld

Defeating the Moon Lord is a tedious task in Palworld, especially if you're below level 50. He's a stationary boss, so don't expect too many moving attacks. However, he throws charged orbs at you, so they definitely hit like a truck. The mechanic of this fight is simple; you'll notice that there are eyes on both his hands and on his head.

Target these eyes first, and once you've taken them all out, his chest cavity opens. You need to deal a lot of damage here too. If you successfully manage to do this, the Moon Lord will lose all its health, and you'd have won the raid. Remember, this boss has a little over 400,000 health, so you'll need a lot of firepower to help you make quick work of this monstrosity.

Ideally, you'd need a really fast firing weapon with high reload speeds to help you take down this Palworld boss. Rocket Launchers would be your best bet, had they not had such low reload speeds. The hands also move, and there's nothing worse than watching your rocket sail past into the sky when you know it will take you forever to reload again. Plasma Canons should be the way to go!
