Best nature for Geodude, Graveler, and Golem in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

It does a lot more than just set up Stealth Rocks.

Geodude has a long history with Pokémon. It was the first Pokémon seen in a Gym, as used by Brock, and it's been making appearances in games up till today. Trainers can easily find better Rock-types or Ground-types, but that doesn't mean Geodude and its evolutions can't be fun Pokémon to use in Scarlet & Violet. In fact, Golem alone can run several different sets.

Which are the best natures for Geodude, Graveler, and Golem in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

  • Adamant (+ Attack, -Sp. Atk)
  • Impish (+ Defense, -Sp. Atk)

Even though trainers can play around with its moves a bit, Golem really only fits into that bulky attacker role. Adamant is a great choice, particularly for a Stealth Rocks setting Golem. This is because Golem gets the Sturdy ability, which lets it live an otherwise lethal hit. Therefore, it can stay in front of even a Kyogre and stay alive one turn to get rocks up.

Golem also gets a decent amount of coverage moves. Things like Thunderpunch can help it KO incoming Pokémon with Defog, trying to get rid of Stealth Rocks. Trainers would usually want to pair this with Earthquake and Stone Edge to take advantage of Golem's high Attack.

For these more offensive sets, Golem definitely wants to run Adamant to maximize its damage. Impish is an option for a more defensive-minded Golem. It does get access to Curse, so Golem could run a bulky set and use Curse to boost its Attack power.

How to choose natures in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Choosing a nature for a Pokémon all depends on what that Pokémon is trying to do. Sometimes it needs the offensive natures, while other times, it needs its defenses boosted. If a Pokémon is as slow as Golem, usually the Speed stat is irrelevant.

If a Pokémon can boost its stats, usually, it's a good idea to focus on defenses. Swords Dance Kingambit, for instance, can afford to be a little extra bulky since it can boost its Attack power anyways.
