In Blox Fruits you can catch different types of fish and reel in other items from the various seas. To get started, you’ll need a rod, some bait, and a basic understanding of how to catch a fish in Blox Fruits- and this guide covers all of that.
Where to Get a Fishing Rod in Blox Fruits?

If you want to go fishing in Blox Fruits, the first thing you’ll need is a fishing rod and some bait. Head to Port Town, find and talk to the Fisherman NPC standing on one of the many docks, and get your first fishing rod and some bait for free. Talking to him will also unlock the Fisherman title.
After you’ve used up the free bait, talk to him again to buy more Basic Bait. You’ll also have to talk to him again to access the Fishing Level menu.
How to Fish in Blox Fruits?
Fishing in Blox Fruits is straightforward, and if you have played Stardew Valley, you’ll instantly recognize the fish-catching UI.

After you’ve acquired your first rod, head to any sea, equip your fishing rod, and click to throw a line into the sea. Now, you wait until you see the hook indicator, which is a red exclamation mark inside a circle. Tap on the indicator quickly to bring up the fish-catching UI.
Two bars will appear on your screen. The bottom one will show how close you are to catching the fish. Do not let that bar turn red, or you’ll lose your fish. The top bar is slightly thicker and has a fish icon moving around randomly, and another floating box that you control. To catch the fish, keep the fish icon inside the floating box until the bottom bar fills up completely.
Another thing worth noting is that fish is not the only thing that you can expect to reel in when fishing in Blox Fruits. You can also get:
- Rare Fruits.
- Treasure Chests.
- Crafting Recipes.
- Useless items like a boot.
How to Increase Fishing Level in Blox Fruits?
To increase your fishing mastery, catch more fish to earn EXP and increase your fishing level. There are three passive metrics that you should also focus on:
Passive | Effect | How to Level Up |
---|---|---|
Bait | Higher level increases bait effectiveness. | Craft more bait at the Fisherman NPC to increase your bait level. |
Casting | Higher levels reduce fish bite delay. | Land perfect casts to improve your casting level. |
Control | Higher levels increase the width of the green bar. | Keep the fish icon within the green bar for longer to improve your control level. |
Fishing, like combat, will help you earn EXP that will increase your overall level. So, your progression in Blox Fruits is no longer locked with just PvE and PvP combat.
How to Get Better Rods & Bait in Blox Fruits?

Fish in Blox Fruits have different rarities, and to catch rare fish, you’ll need better fishing rods and bait. For that, you have to talk to the Angler NPC who spawns across the different islands of all three seas.
When you talk to the Angler NPC, he’ll give you different quests- mostly related to fishing. Complete his quests, and he’ll give you rewards (Cash, EXP) as well as unlock new rods and bait that you can purchase to go and catch the rarer fish in Blox Fruits.
You can also apply buffs to your fishing rod using Scrolls. These buffs would make the whole fishing process a lot easier and quicker.
