Your pets in Build a Zoo can get mutations that will change their appearance and add a value multiplier, increasing their selling price and per-second earnings. All Build a Zoo Mutations - Eggs & Weather Events
There are two different ways of obtaining mutations on your pets in Build A Zoo. The first is to catch mutated eggs or feed mutation-inducing foods to your animals, and the other is the Weather Events. Read on to learn more about each of these methods, which mutations they can apply, and their effects on your pets.
Egg & Food Mutations in Build a Zoo
You can get five different pet mutations in Build a Zoo by feeding different types of food to your pets or catching/buying and hatching mutated eggs. See the table below for more information:

Weather Mutations in Build a Zoo
Similar to other pet tycoon games, Build a Zoo also has Weather Events that can apply different mutations to your animals. You don’t have to do anything to obtain these mutations. When a Weather starts, it will randomly apply a mutation on one or more of your pets.
All pets on your plot will have a chance of catching the mutation. Pets in your inventory cannot be affected by the weather and won't catch the mutation.

Description: If your pet has a Gold Mutation, the Sandstrom mutation will take the multiplier from 2x to 4x. | Randomly applies to one or more pets during the Sandstorm Weather Event. These weather events spawn randomly and last for 3 to 5 minutes. Not all weather events will apply a mutation to your pet. Currently, the Sandstorm Weather Event is the only mutation-inducing weather event in Build a Zoo.
Pets that already have a mutation can still catch a Weather Mutation in Build a Zoo, which means your pets can now have two mutations at a time. However, the egg and food mutations (Gold, Diamond, Jurassic, etc.) cannot stack or duplicate.
Build a Zoo FAQs
The Sandstorm mutation applies to one or more of your pets during the Sandstorm Weather Event. You don't have to do anything to get the mutation. It applies automatically and is completely dependent on RNG.
Yes, all pets on your plot have an equal chance of getting affected with the Weather Events and their mutations. This includes your normal pets, fish pets, big pet, and big fish as well.
You can check the current and next weather in Build a Zoo by clicking on the weather button located above the inventory tray. It shows the current weather, how long it will last, and you can also see the next weather that will occur on the server by clicking on it.
Meteor Heaven is a very rare item that you can only get through the Season Pass spin with a 1% chance. Click on Season Pass and go to Ticket to perform a spin. You’ll need Lucky Tickets to spin the Season Pass wheel. Once you have the Meteor Heaven, activate it to spawn Jurassic Eggs on your conveyor belt.
No, mutations can not stack on your Big Pet and Big Fish in Build a Zoo. If your Big Pet or Big Fish already has a mutation, feeding another fruit will replace the current mutation. Once your Big Pet or Big Fish has the Jurassic Mutation, it’s best to avoid feeding them mutation-inducing foods.
Food can be bought using cash from the Fruit shop located at the end of the ramp in the middle of the map, opposite the Sell Animals shop. Feed your Big Pet and Big Fish to increase their earning, gain mutations, and unlock new Big Pets and Big Fish.
