Five Nights TD 2 Tier List – Best Units Ranked (October 2025)

Updated October 24, 2025: All units added and I reranked the entire tier list accordingly.

Recommended Videos

Between all the Secrets, Nightmares, and EVO Heroes, it can be hard to determine what the best units are in Five Nights TD 2. Especially when some Rares are also really good as starters. Let's rank them all and discuss each unit in my Five Nights TD 2 tier list and guide.

Five Nights Tower Defense 2 Tier List

The best unit in Five Nights TD 2 doesn't necessarily depend on rarity, though higher rarities tend to have more DPS. That said, Rare units like JJ/Paper Pals are also really strong as starters. I've separated starters, boosters, DPS units in their separate categories and there's only one farm with Fazcade which can be good for Endless but isn't good for story. B-Tiers are generally great for beginners and serve as a good baseline of decent units, allowing you to create a decent tower defense strategy.

The S and A tiers in the Five Nights TD 2 tier list have the best characters, mainly focused on DPS. On the other hand, C are either underpowered or only used when you're starting. Let's take a look at unit highlights in our Five Nights TD 2 tier list below.

Starters & Boosters: I ranked the best starters and boosters from left to right in their own little section beneath the DPS tier list as you can see above. The best starter is worth a slot for story and endless, that said, the current boosters are usually only worth it for Endless since they're too slow for story.

S-Tier FNTD 2 Unit Highlights

S-Tier HighlightsWhy S-Tier?Abilities

Purple Guy
Nightmare
• The best boss killer in Five Nights TD2 currently
• A mix of explosion and single target DPS with the Salvage clones
• Just make sure to use Salvage wisely because it does remove a placement from that unit so you can use it to reposition a high DPS unit down the line if you miss some mobs or a boss
Endo Summon: This unit doesn't attack, instead summons an Endo on the track on its cooldown, with health equal to 100% of his damage. Every 3rd summon, it will instead summon a Gun Endo which shoots enemies as it walks down the track doing 40% of this unit's current damage per shot (Single Target) and has 65% of this unit's current damage as health.
Soul Absorption: Every enemy this unit kills increases its damage by 0.1%. [25% max buff]
Salvage [Active Ability] (Unlocked at Max Upgrade [9]): Sacrifices a chosen unit, then places a (Single Target) turret that has 75% of that unit's max upgraded damage and matches that upgrade's cooldown. Additionally removes a placement from that unit. [1 usage limit per placement]

Withered Freddy
Secret
• One of the highest DPS units in the game with strong Circle and Cone AOE that can be switched based on what you need
• Faz-Metal-Jacket mode is more damage with Cone but Circle is a great attack type.
• Plus, you ignore armor which is really good for bosses
Armor Piercing Rounds: This unit's attacks ignore armor damage resistance.
Focused Fire: For every second that the unit targets the same enemy increase rng by 3% up to 35%. (Circle AOE)
Faz-Metal-Jacket: Every second shot applies burn for 1s, dealing 10% of this unit's current damage. (Cone AOE)
Mode Swap [Active Ability]: Changes this unit's attack and passive between Focused Fire and Faz-Metal-Jacket.

Puppet
Hero
• Much better for Endless but can also be sometimes used in Story with a farm unit and IMO it's better than the Golden Freddy Hero due to support potential
• Both the UPG 5 and 12 slow enemies for your other units plus UPG 18 boosts damage of all your units which is incredibly strong since you want to stack units anyway for the Music Box damage per unit placed
• Overall takes a bit of getting used to but Puppet is an incredibly strong Endless unit
Music Box Every: 10s this hero does damage to all enemies in range based on the number of units placed. Starting at 0%, scales by 5% of this hero's damage per unit placed. [150% max]
Soul Calling [Upgrade 5+]: Every 15s summons a soul on the track that will walk through every enemy dealing 60% of this hero's current damage, does not damage bosses. Enemies hit by this soul are slowed by 20% for 5s.
Protector [Upgrade 12+]: Every 30s this hero slows all enemies in range by 10% for 7.5s. Additionally this will upgrade the tower on the track (cannot upgrade a Hero) with the lowest current upgrade, if multiple units share an upgrade level; chooses randomly.
Happiest Day [Active Ability] [Upgrade 18+]: Upon activation, this hero boosts the damage of all placed units by 25% for 15s. [45s Global CD]

Mangle
Nightmare
• Mangle is one of the best DPS units currently with two really good passives and one that's decent for attack mode variation
• Has a mini-stun when enemies linger in your range
• Most of that prime DPS comes from the Take Apart & Put Together passive which is an additional short-range DPS passive, as Mangle's other head bites enemies and bleeds them
• The third passive cycles between Circle AOE, Cone AOE and Single Target, which is okay but nothing powerful
• Either way, Mangle is an excellent carry for story and endless
Amalgamation:
This unit has 3 different attacks that it cycles through while attacking. Every 3rd attack, it will cycle to the next attack. Attack 1: Light Cannon (Circle AOE), Attack 2: Flamethrower (Cone AOE), Attack 3: Bite (Single Target)
Take Apart & Put Together:
This unit's other head will attack enemies within 40% range dealing small Circle AoE damage. Enemies hit by this attack are inflicted with bleed for 3s dealing 40% of this unit's current damage [13.3% DMG per tick].
Radio Static:
When an enemy is within 50% of this unit's range for more than 6 seconds, this unit stuns the enemy for 0.75s. [10s stun CD]

Withered Golden Freddy
Nightmare
• One of the best supports in the game along with Mythic Chica and Puppet
• You have access to a perpetual slow as long as enemies are within 40% range of this unit so buff his range with traits
• Plus you can reposition the slow with Poltergeist and it has the best damage out of all the slow units
Fear: Enemies within 40% of this unit's range are slowed by 20%.
Poltergeist [Active Ability]: Teleports this unit to a selected location on the map. Additionally, leaves a permanent clone of WGF that deals 50% damage in the location they teleported from; upon teleporting again, deletes the previous clone and places a new one. 20s Local CD

Party Glock Freddy
Secret
• One of the best beginner units in the game and does well on all modes mid-to-late game too
• This is mainly due to the Party Popper ability that gives you 2 more attackers with AOE Cone attacks within Party Glock Freddy's range so the DPS is really good
• PGF also enters Party Mode every 60s for 30s, gaining 30% damage and boosting its speed and range
• I recommend you get it using fazbucks so you don't waste Robux on the Exclusive offer
Celebration: Every 60s this unit enters a Party Time mode for 30s, gaining 30% damage, reducing SPA by 15% and increasing range by 25%.
Party Poppers: Every 15 seconds, spawns in 2 Party Poppers anywhere in this unit's range that aim at the enemy currently being targeted by the unit. Party Poppers deal 120% of this unit's current damage in a 70 degree Cone AOE.

Toy Chica
Mythic
• Put Speed III on her and she becomes a support machine slowing enemies and knocking them back
• Works great with any kind of attack speed booster
• Also has quite decent DPS so she can support your end game teams and she's also one of the best mid-game units
Water Hose Attacks: Apply a 12% slow for 2s.
High Pressure: Every 10th attack knocks back enemies a short distance (30s CD to knockback the same enemy again). This unit's attacks ignore armor damage resistance.

A-Tier Unit Highlights

A-Tier HighlightsWhy A-Tier?Abilities

Golden Freddy
Hero
• The Hero Freddy unit is really slow to get going since you can place only one and it has 20 upgrades getting progressively more powerful so I personally think it's much better for Endless than Story
• That said it's got one of the best abilities in the game hitting all enemies on the track at UPG 18
• You also have a ton of tools to stack and increase damage and even stun enemies
• The one placement really hurts it since at least Puppet can support
• I reached 251 DPS on max upgrade with Damage III but note that this is unevolved
It gets much stronger once you evolve it but I haven't been able to do it due to a bug that I hope gets fixed soon
Vengeful Spirit:
Every 20s, this hero's damage and range doubles, and cooldown halves, for 5s.
Restless Soul [Upgrade 5+]:
Every wave this hero receives a 2% damage boost. In endless modes, this boost is reduced to 0.8%. [100% max buff]
It's Me! [Upgrade 12+]:
Every 30s this hero stuns all enemies in range for 2s. While stunned, enemies take 20% more damage (20% wither).
The one you should not have killed. [Active Ability] [Upgrade 18+]:
Upon activation, this hero deals damage to all enemies on the track for 50% of its current damage. [30s Local CD]

Shadow Bonnie
Secret
• You can easily grab it and Endo 02 from the premium battlepass and you'll have a couple of decent DPS alterantives to carry you
• Bonnie is a poisoner DoT unit that you have to stack damage on by popping the Blackout ability on UPG 6 which can be slow so I put it A instead of S
• That said if you have time to reach UPG 6 and start stacking damage on Blackout Shadow Bonnie can be really good so it's mostly an Endless unit
Agonizing Energy: Attacks apply poison for 2s, dealing 20% of this unit's current damage. [10% dmg/tick]
Blackout [Active Ability] [Upgrade 6+]: Upon activation, darkens the map for 15s. Every enemy taken down by this unit during these 15s grants a 0.2% increase to damage and range. [20% max buff] [60s Local CD]

Endo 02
Secret
• This is a free pass unit that summons turrets for DPS and is similar to Shadow Bonnie in that it stacks damage on kills but the great thing about Endo 02 is that you can start stacking right away instead of waiting for SB's UPG 6 so I prefer Endo 02 since it's good for both Story and EndlessEngineer:
This unit places turrets that do Single Target attacks equal to this units damage and cooldown. Places a turret every 15s, turrets last 60s. Maximum of 3 turrets per Endo 02 placed. [Places somewhere randomly within range]
Parts and Service:
Every enemy this unit kills (last hit required, turrets count for last hits) increases this unit's damage by 0.5%. [30% max buff]

Fazcade
Mythic
• The only farm unit for any team late-game or in Endless
• Not that good for Story since it can be expensive and you're better off placing starters
• Might even be a bit lower than A but I've had great success with it in Endless
Arcade Machine:
This unit makes money every wave based on its current upgrade. [Upgrade 1: 200 Cash, Upgrade 2: 450 Cash, Upgrade 3: 1000 Cash, Upgrade 4: 1600 Cash]

Withered Bonnie
Mythic
• While Single target, Withered Bonny does an AOE attack every 5 seconds and every 4th attack crits for double damage and a decent overall DPS though there are better units later
• Best for mid-game
• Get Speed 3 ASAP to profit off the crit as much as possible
• A decent boss-killer alternative to the Secrets/Nightmares above
Critical Overdrive [Upgrade 0-2]: Every 4th attack, this unit crits for double damage.
Charged Laser [Upgrade 3-5]: Every 5 seconds, this unit will damage enemies around its target for 100% of its damage.

B-Tier Unit Highlights

B-Tier HighlightsWhy B-Tier?Abilities

Withered Foxy
Secret
• Withered Foxy is my least favorite Secret because its ability is awkward to use but it's still A-Tier due to strong stats
• The main ability is weird because you have to keep Withered Foxy out of combat for 30 seconds for its damage buff to reach both max potential and activate to last 45 seconds because otherwise the buff will reset if WF attacks before that 30s is up
• This gets really clunky since you have to put WF in the back and you end up losing value
• That said, the Sword Lunge is really good because it applies a damage boost and a strong Bleed on each first hit on an enemy
• Mixed feelings here compared to other Secrets but it's still a Secret so A-Tier
Sword Lunge:
When this unit first hits an enemy, does 30% bonus damage; then applies a bleed dealing 30% DMG over 2 seconds. [15% DMG/tick].
Memento Mori:
For every second that this unit doesn't attack, increases their damage & range by 1% up to a max of 30%. If this unit attacks before the buff reaches 30%, resets the buff after attacking. If this unit reaches 30% buff before attacking, they hold onto the buff for 45s after attacking.

Party Packer Cupcake
Secret
• PPC is a weird choice since it has amazing passives, DPS and flexibility but only one placement so Golden Freddy might be better or Puppet for support
• The first passive launches rockets every 12 seconds hitting the highest HP enemies globally
• Speaking of missles the active Fallout ability at Upgrade 6 launches these missiles every 3.4 seconds for 17s and once that ends you also do Cone AOE burn for 3 seconds.
• Fallout deals massive damage so save it for large waves and bosses since it has a 120 second cooldown
• PPC also buffs its range by +3% for every circle attack type unit in range for up to 5 units or +15% range which is a nice range boost
• Overall a decent but hard to play unit due to 1 placement
I.C.B.C.M (Inter-Continental Ballistic Cupcake Missile):
Every 12 seconds the top of this unit's cupcake opens, and launches a cupcake missile that targets the highest HP enemy on the field dealing 150% damage.
Explosives Expert:
For every circle attack type unit in this unit's range increase damage and range by 3%. [15% max buff]
Fallout [Active Ability] [Upgrade 6+]:
Upon activation, for the next 17s I.C.B.C.M's are launched every 3.4s dealing 80% of this unit's current damage. For 3s after this, releases a wave of steam (Cone AOE) dealing burn for 3s dealing 40% of this unit's current damage [13.3% dmg/tick]. [20s Duration] [120s Global CD]

Toy Freddy
Epic
• The best DPS Epic unit in my opinion because it receives a chunky damage buff the closer it is to enemies so you can place it near enemy spawn (On a single enemy spawn map) or on a choke point where enemy spawn paths intersect always to bombard enemies in close range for 120% damageFaz-Shotgun:
Does extra damage based on enemy distance from unit. 120% damage in 20% range, 110% damage in 40% range, 100% damage in 60% range, 90% damage in 80% range, 80% damage in 100% range.

C-Tier Unit Highlights

C-Tier HighlightsWhy C-Tier?

Toy Bonnie
Epic
• Deals bonus damage every 4th attack so get Speed III for the most DPS you can get
• Decent DPS unit but I prefer JJ and Paper Pals for starters

Withered Chica
Epic
• Quite slow but can deal okay DPS with Speed 3 when you start out but I wouldn't use it later

Chica
Uncommon
• Kind of like Freddy but Freddy is slightly better because you can place 2 on start and Chica is a good starter if you don't have any of the ones that are ogod

Foxy
Uncommon
• The worst DPS unit in the game

Best Starter Units

D-Tier HighlightsWhy D-Tier?Abilities

JJ
Rare
• JJ is actually really underrated because you deal Line AOE with really good DPS and it's a cheap unit to place and upgrade making it a great starter
• You also get range boosts when something dies near JJ, up to 10% which is a good little boost
• Overall, JJ is better than most Epics and definitely all Rares and Uncommons in terms of starters, aka one of the best units for beginners in FNTD2
Megalomaniac:
For every enemy killed in this unit's range, gain 0.1% range. [10% max buff]

Paper Pals
Rare
• Similar to JJ, but Paper Pals is AOE and deals Bleed
• One of the best starters and overall really OP for its rarity, like JJ
Paper Cuts: Attacks apply bleed for 1s, dealing 5% of this unit's current damage.

Bonnie
Uncommon
• Respectable DPS and cheap placement up to 4 for a great alternative to a start unitGuitar Solo
Every 10s this unit provides itself a 10% damage boost for 5s

Freddy
Uncommon
• A great starter until you start using JJ or PaperPals, then drop itMic Toss:
Every 5 attacks this unit throws its microphone applying bleed for 1s, dealing 10% of this unit's current damage.

Booster Units Ranked

D-Tier HighlightsWhy D-Tier?

Cupcake
Epic
• Unlike Endo 01 this is an affordable Story booster but it's weaker in the end
• That said the cheaper price makes it more flexibile for story and Endless even though Endo 01 is better late-game for Endless
Birthday Boy:
Provides a 3% buff to damage, range, and cooldown to every unit in its radius.

Endo 01
Mythic
• A great damage boost but it's extremely expensive for Story so I would only ever use it in Endless
• That said it is potentially the best booster in the game
Endo CPU:
Provides a 3% damage boost to all units in range, scaling by 3% per upgrade [15% max buff].
Synchronized Hardware:
For every Endo in its radius including itself, provide a self 5% range boost [20% max buff]

Balloon Boy
Epic
• Balloon Boy can be good in certain scenarios to boost range on chokepoints but overall you're better off just spending money on good starters or DPS units or other boostersStolen Batteries: Applies a 2% range boost to all units in range, increasing by 2% per upgrade. [10% max buff]
