Anime Expeditions Tier List [UPD 1 Warrior Saga] – Best Meta Units

The ultimate Update 1 Anime Expeditions Tier List, with the best DPS and support units in the release meta.

Updated on August 23, 2026: I’ve completely reassessed our Anime Expeditions Tier List to reflect the latest post-Update 1 balance changes and meta shifts. Several placements have shifted significantl, most notably for Carrot (Unleashed), Cubert, Bioinsect (Final Form), Salmon Sorcerer, and other previously overrated or underrated units. I’ve also corrected outdated element and passive information and expanded the rankings with a full B Tier for units that have fallen out of the top meta.

When it comes to the best units in the Anime Expeditions Update 1 meta, rankings mostly come down to how much value each unit provides on its own. There are still relatively few units that truly matter right now, and we are, of course, mainly talking about Mythic and Secret units.

There are some synergies already, but not nearly as many as there will be once the game expands further. For now, each unit in my Anime Expeditions Tier List should be evaluated based on several key factors:

  • Stats – Core unit stats such as Damage, Attack Speed, Range, Critical Chance, Critical Damage, and more.
  • Status Effects – Many units apply status effects with their attacks, such as Burn, Freeze, Slow, and Bleed. These can help you clear waves faster, stall enemies, and control the battlefield more effectively.
  • Attack Type – There are currently three damage types in the game: Physical, Magical, and Psychic.
  • Element – Most units have an Element, such as Storm, Flame, Gale, Hydro, Dark, Neutral, Terra, Light, and more.
  • Passives – Most units in the upper tiers of our Anime Expeditions Tier List have several powerful passive abilities that can make all the difference in the right team comp.

S

Anime Expeditions S Tier Units

S Tier rewards units that either define optimized endgame damage or provide irreplaceable team value across bosses, Raids, Challenges, Tower, and Infinite. Raw PWR is only a starting point: passives, post-patch wording, placement limits, signature equipment, control, economy, and team amplification all matter.

Anime Expeditions S Tier unit rankings, attributes, status effects, and evaluations
Unit Evaluation
Shadow Divine Anime Expeditions unit

Shadow (Divine)

Secret DPS Dark Magical Stun / Rewind

Best Trait: Unbound

Inspired by Megumi Fushiguro from Jujutsu Kaisen.

  • The best all-round roster slot in the current meta. Shadow combines carry damage, permanent summons, Stun, Rewind, and team amplification instead of forcing you to spend separate slots on each job.
  • Shadow Realm rewinds enemies and gives Magical allies 25% more Damage for 30 seconds, which is just as useful for a boss burst as it is for rescuing a bad wave.
  • Winged Spirit supplies recurring AoE Stuns while Divine Spirit acts as another persistent source of pressure, so the kit keeps contributing even between actives.
  • The two-placement limit and ¥73,900 max investment are substantial, but Shadow remains the safest No. 1 because no other unit compresses this much damage and utility into one slot.
Prodigy Rage Gohan Anime Expeditions unit

Prodigy (Rage)

Secret DPS Light Physical Status Scaling / Transformation

Best Trait: Unbound

Inspired by Gohan from Dragon Ball Z.

  • The best self-contained pure carry package in S Tier. Prodigy reaches 4,112.5 Damage / 8.0 SPA, or about 514 raw PWR per placement, before his transformation and Status Effect scaling are counted.
  • Hidden Potential already adds a 25% full-range hit every fourth Regular Attack, but Mentor's Cape changes that to 50% every third attack. That signature equipment is a major reason fully built Prodigy separates from most raw-stat comparisons.
  • Unyielding Spirit adds 10% Damage per Status Effect stack, up to 100%, and can refresh each DoT type once per enemy. Status-heavy teams therefore raise his boss ceiling without making him dependent on only one partner.
  • Father and Son Spirit Energy deals 75% of current Damage every second for 10 seconds. He stops normal attacks during the channel, but the concentrated burst is excellent for bosses and packed lanes.
Puppet Telekinetic Anime Expeditions unit

Puppet (Telekinetic)

Mythic DPS Light Psychic Puppet Mark / Rewind

Best Trait: Unbound or Primordial

Inspired by Gowther from The Seven Deadly Sins.

  • The best bossing support/carry hybrid. Puppet now sits at roughly 566 raw PWR at max upgrade before traits, so the old idea that you bring him only for utility undersells his personal damage.
  • Puppet Mark makes the strongest enemy in range take 20% increased incoming damage. Because that multiplies the entire team's output against the target, it scales harder than another selfish DPS passive.
  • Complete Control adds a two-second Rewind on a 30-second global cooldown, while enemies killed under Puppet Mark can become Dolls that temporarily block the lane.
  • Two placements and a ¥57,150 max cost keep him from being flexible early, but damage amplification plus Rewind plus top-end raw power make him an automatic S Tier consideration.
8th Sword Berserk Anime Expeditions unit

8th Sword (Berserk)

Secret DPS Neutral Physical Dismembered / Stun

Best Trait: Unbound

Inspired by Kenpachi Zaraki from Bleach.

  • The strongest pure late-game hypercarry, but also the least practical unit near the top of S Tier. Each takedown grants 1% permanent Damage, up to a massive 100% increase.
  • Demonic Presence ticks for a percentage of his current Damage inside the inner range, while his teleporting Execution attack periodically Stuns priority targets.
  • After 25 takedowns, Berserk adds another 20% Damage, faster attacks, and Dismembered on every hit for 15 seconds, turning the kill zone into a meat grinder.
  • The catch is the ¥92,800 max cost and kill-dependent ramp. He dominates Infinite and long Raids, but Crimson and Puppet contribute more quickly in short content.
Crow Black Fire Anime Expeditions unit

Crow (Black Fire)

Secret DPS Flame Magical Illusion / Black Fire

Best Trait: Unbound or Draconic

Inspired by Itachi Uchiha from Naruto.

  • Crow is Flame/Magical in the current data, not Dark. His current max line is 1,800 Damage / 5.7 SPA, or about 316 raw PWR, with 29 Range and three placements.
  • Every Regular Attack applies Illusion. Broken Mind stores part of Crow's damage against the affected target and detonates it later, giving him delayed boss burst and useful collateral damage when enemies cluster.
  • Black Fire remains a premium status effect for shield-heavy content, so Crow contributes more than his regular-attack PWR suggests and also feeds Status Effect-based teammates such as Prodigy.
  • The current ¥78,450 max cost is much steeper than older guides list, but the combination of S-level damage, status pressure, three placements, and anti-shield value still justifies a top tier.
Vegetable Prince Vegeta Anime Expeditions unit

Vegetable (Prince)

Mythic DPS Light Magical Crit Scaling / Team Synergy

Best Trait: Unbound or Forsaken

Inspired by Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z.

  • The highest-ceiling team-dependent carry. Vegetable starts from roughly 351 raw PWR, then Royal Rivalry stacks Damage, Critical Chance, and Critical Damage from allied attacks inside his range.
  • Awakened Pride adds another 15% Damage, 20% Critical Chance, and 35% Critical Damage, so a properly fed Vegetable scales far beyond what his unbuffed stat line suggests.
  • An ally transforming in range can immediately fill his meter and also receives a Damage boost, which makes Update 1 transformation teams the cleanest way to unlock his ceiling quickly.
  • He is S Tier here because this list rewards optimized endgame ceiling. In an uncoordinated team or short stage where Royal Rivalry never ramps, he performs much closer to a high A Tier unit.
Elf Mage Unleashed Anime Expeditions unit

Elf Mage (Unleashed)

Mythic DPS Storm Magical Mana Burn

Best Trait: Unbound or Forsaken

Inspired by Frieren from Frieren: Beyond Journey's End.

  • Current element: Storm/Magical. Elf Mage reaches about 326 raw PWR with three placements and turns repeated Regular Attacks into extra Arcane Magic hits with Line, Circle, and Full AoE coverage.
  • Arcane Magic fires additional 100% Damage attacks at three, five, and seven charges, while completed charge cycles permanently increase Arcane Spell Damage up to a 25% cap.
  • The repeated extra attacks make her particularly effective in long modes and naturally interact with Follow-Up-oriented team cores even without a dedicated active ability.
  • She lacks the hard team amplification of Shadow or Puppet, but three-placement coverage, scaling, and frequent extra attacks make her one of the most consistent S Tier damage slots.
Carrot Unleashed Goku Anime Expeditions unit

Carrot (Unleashed)

Mythic DPS Gale Physical Crit / Follow-Up / Stagger

Best Trait: Unbound or Primordial

Inspired by Goku from Dragon Ball Z.

  • Carrot gained real value in the post-Update 1 balance pass. Battle Instinct now guarantees the next Regular Attack Crit after three consecutive non-Crits instead of four, pushing his effective Crit frequency to roughly 29% before trait bonuses.
  • At 30 Fighting Spirit he Staggers enemies in range, becomes immune to Status Effects, and gains 15% Damage plus 20% Critical Damage. Fighting Spirit now drains only once every two seconds, materially improving transformation uptime.
  • Instant Relocation immediately creates a 75% Follow-Up Attack. Targeting a position also gives Carrot 50% Damage for 15 seconds on a 20-second cooldown, so good manual play produces far more value than his 2,572 Damage / 9.3 SPA raw line implies.
  • He remains more execution-heavy than Prodigy or Crow, but the corrected Crit threshold, longer transformed window, Stagger, and Follow-Up synergy are enough to keep him in low S Tier.
Dark Mage Sovereign Anime Expeditions unit

Dark Mage (Sovereign)

Mythic DPS Hydro Magical Freeze / Lightning Arc

Best Trait: Unbound

Inspired by Judar from Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic.

  • A low-S/high-A unit without signature gear and a genuine S Tier specialist with it. Dark Mage combines roughly 337 raw PWR, two AoE patterns, lane damage, Freeze, and two placements.
  • Magic Cycle switches between Ice and Lightning after every eight Regular Attacks. Lightning creates a damaging Arc along the path, while Ice applies Freeze and builds Frostbite toward a Shatter burst.
  • The Dark Scepter is the difference-maker for a finished build: its replacement passive strengthens Lightning Arc and makes the Ice-side Shatter payoff substantially better.
  • The ¥65,100 max investment and form management are real downsides, but on long lanes and control-heavy maps he offers enough damage plus CC to remain in S Tier.
Salmon Sorcerer Grade 1 Anime Expeditions unit

Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1)

Mythic Support Gale Magical Slow / Stagger

Best Trait: Primordial

Inspired by Toge Inumaki from Jujutsu Kaisen.

  • Promoted to S Tier for control, not raw DPS. Crumble Away applies a permanent 20% Slow, while Plummet can Stagger enemies entering the inner half of Salmon's range.
  • Slow plus Stagger keeps waves inside Full AoE, DoT pools, and boss kill zones for extra attack cycles, so his real contribution is the damage the rest of the team gets to land.
  • At ¥29,600 to max with three placements, he is much easier to fit into Raids, Challenges, and Infinite than the expensive carry-support hybrids above him.
  • He is not an S Tier damage dealer, but current endgame teams value reliable crowd control enough that treating him as merely another A Tier support understates his impact.
A

Anime Expeditions A Tier Units

A Tier contains units that are genuinely endgame-viable but lose something important versus S Tier: independence, universal coverage, immediate impact, or roster-slot efficiency. Several are S-level specialists inside the right composition, which is why supports, economy units, and enablers are evaluated by the team value they create rather than personal DPS alone.

Anime Expeditions A Tier unit rankings, attributes, status effects, and evaluations
Unit Evaluation
Crimson Brother Anime Expeditions unit

Crimson (Brother)

Exclusive DPS Dark Magical Crimson Mark / DoT

Best Trait: Unbound or Draconic

Inspired by Choso from Jujutsu Kaisen.

  • Still one of the best immediate-value carries, but no longer an automatic S Tier slot. Crimson reaches about 389 raw PWR in his evolved form and comes online faster than most Secret hypercarries.
  • Regular attacks plant delayed Crimson Explosions and damaging zones, which gives him strong coverage against clustered waves and targets that survive the first hit.
  • Piercing Crimson creates a long manual burst window and repeatedly reapplies Crimson Mark, making straight lanes and boss pushes his best maps.
  • He remains an excellent A Tier investment, but current S Tier units either scale higher, multiply the whole team, or provide stronger control on top of comparable damage.
Cubert Anime Expeditions unit

Cubert

Limited Exclusive Support Hydro Magical Cubes / Stun / Buff

Best Trait: Primordial (support) or Unbound (damage)

Inspired by Khun from Tower of God.

  • The strongest A Tier support specialist after his Cube passives were added/fixed. Cubert has three placements, 256.9 raw PWR, and gains a Cube charge every 10 seconds up to two stored charges.
  • An attached Cube gives its unit 5% Damage and 2.5% Range; overlapping Cubes stack additively. With two Cubes per Cubert and six globally, the support ceiling is far higher than his personal PWR suggests.
  • Cube attacks deal 35% of Cubert's current Damage, and Cube Overload explodes at three meter stacks for additional damage plus Stun, so he contributes both offensive buffs and recurring control.
  • Primordial is the practical support trait because it preserves all three placements and the six-Cube ceiling. Unbound wins personal damage but reduces Cubert to one placement and therefore only two Cubes.
The Drink Juicebox Trunks Anime Expeditions unit

The Drink (Juicebox)

Mythic DPS Support Hydro Physical Follow-Up Mark / Weakness

Best Trait: Unbound or Primordial

Inspired by Trunks from Dragon Ball Z.

  • The core enabler for Follow-Up Attack teams, but composition dependence keeps him in A Tier overall. Precision Slash marks targets for 15 seconds, increasing Follow-Up damage and applying a 10% Physical weakness.
  • Quick Assist answers allied Follow-Up Attacks with a 150% Follow-Up of his own on an eight-second cooldown, turning active FUA teams into a much denser damage loop.
  • Pointy Straw is a huge upgrade: it changes Precision Slash from every sixth Regular Attack to every fourth and raises the mark's Follow-Up amplification from 10% to 25%.
  • At 264 raw PWR and three placements, The Drink is not weak on his own; he simply needs the right partners to reach the ceiling that S Tier carries access more independently.
Razorjaw Hunter Anime Expeditions unit

Razorjaw (Hunter)

Mythic DPS Neutral Physical Stagger / Path Sweep

Best Trait: Unbound or Forsaken

Inspired by Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez from Bleach.

  • An efficient A Tier bruiser with excellent lane-wide burst. Razorjaw reaches 318.94 base DPS, costs only ¥43,300 to max, and has three placements, giving him much better practical deployment value than most expensive Mythics.
  • Every 10 seconds, Roar deals 35% of his current Damage in Full AoE, applies a one-second Stagger, and grants 1% Critical Chance for every enemy hit, up to 25%. Dense waves let him cap the bonus quickly while repeatedly interrupting the entire pack.
  • Endless Slashes teleports Razorjaw to the base and sends him down the whole path. Each successive slash gains another 10% Damage, making the ability excellent for clearing a developed lane, catching leaks, or ramping through a boss push before he returns to his original position.
  • The active unlocks only at Upgrade 8 and has a 60-second local cooldown, while boss-only stages build Roar's Critical Chance far more slowly. He is powerful and cost-efficient, but less universally dominant than the S Tier carries.
String Demon Awakened Anime Expeditions unit

String Demon (Awakened)

Mythic DPS Neutral Magical Cocoon / Stun

Best Trait: Unbound

Inspired by Donquixote Doflamingo from One Piece.

  • Cocoon of Carnage periodically traps hit enemies until the Cocoon takes 10 hits or five seconds pass. Breaking it adds another hit based on String Demon's current Damage.
  • String Sync can connect up to three nearby allies and generate follow-up attacks based on String Demon's Damage, but each string has a 15-second reapplication delay after breaking.
  • Fast, multi-hit teams can trigger both passives reliably and make him look borderline S Tier. Slow comps often let Cocoons expire and waste much of String Sync's ceiling.
  • The three-placement limit is useful, but ¥54,700.5 per maxed copy is expensive for a unit that still needs the right teammates to reach full value.
Lady Giant Envy Anime Expeditions unit

Lady Giant (Envy)

Mythic DPS Terra Physical Stone Walls

Best Trait: Primordial

Inspired by Diane from The Seven Deadly Sins.

  • Lady Giant is one of the best-value all-rounders: four placements, only ¥30,000 to max, respectable DPS, and two Stone Walls that automatically refresh lane control.
  • Every fourth attack throws a bonus rock for 100% Damage, increased to 125% during Giant Form, so her sustained output is better than the base stat line suggests.
  • Giant Form lasts 25 seconds on a 60-second cooldown and grants 125% Damage plus 50% Range, although the 25% SPA increase makes each attack slower.
  • She works almost everywhere, but the active downtime and lack of team amplification leave her a step below the elite carries.
Cursed Student True Love Anime Expeditions unit

Cursed Student (True Love)

Mythic DPS Dark Physical Bleed Synergy

Best Trait: Forsaken or Unbound

Inspired by Yuta Okkotsu from Jujutsu Kaisen.

  • One of the highest-ceiling units in A Tier. Cursed Mimicry triggers every third regular attack, copying the closest ally for 100% of Cursed Student's current Damage plus a portion of that ally's Damage.
  • A three-placement limit gives optimized teams a very high ceiling, but every copy needs careful positioning; parking him beside a buffer or farm unit is premium-grade self-sabotage.
  • Spirit Bats are a secondary bonus rather than the reason to use him, since they require 20 Bleed stacks in range and only attack a limited number of times.
  • The ¥51,850 cost, Bleed requirement, and reliance on a carefully chosen neighbor matter more after Update 1. He can still produce S Tier numbers in the right setup, but the setup cost lands him at the top of A.
True Saint Holy Anime Expeditions unit

True Saint (Holy)

Exclusive Support Light Magical True Saint Mark

Best Trait: Unbound

Inspired by Hinata Sakaguchi from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.

  • Regular attacks place True Saint Marks on up to five enemies, and Crits detonate active marks for extra damage. Built-in Critical Chance makes the loop reasonably consistent.
  • Seize steals 20% Damage from the three strongest nearby allies for 60 seconds, temporarily turning True Saint into a much stronger carry.
  • The problem is obvious: the active gains power by weakening the units that were already doing the most work. Bad timing can lower total team output rather than improve it.
  • She has enough damage and burst utility to stay in A Tier, but the awkward trade-off makes her the least reliable unit in these two sections.
Water Princess Noelle Anime Expeditions unit

Water Princess

Legendary Support Hydro Magical Shield / Debuff Block

Best Trait: Primordial (support) or Unbound (damage)

Inspired by Noelle Silva from Black Clover.

  • One of the most underrated A Tier supports. Sea Dragon Shield protects the nearest allied unit in range from one Debuff or Enemy Attack, then regenerates after 15 seconds.
  • That defensive utility is especially valuable in content where a disabled or disrupted carry costs more than another low-DPS attacker would contribute.
  • She is cheap to finish at ¥14,250, has three placements, and still reaches 21 Range, so spreading shields across multiple carry zones is realistic.
  • Her own max attack line is only 515 Damage / 6.0 SPA, which keeps her out of S Tier, but judging her by raw DPS alone badly underrates what she prevents.
Forbidden Teacher Anime Expeditions unit

Forbidden Teacher

Legendary Support No Element Magical Magical Damage Buff

Best Trait: Primordial

Inspired by Utahime Iori from Jujutsu Kaisen.

  • Elite Magical support, but specialized enough to settle in A Tier overall. Teacher Blessing increases the Damage of Magical units in range and scales upward as Forbidden Teacher is upgraded.
  • The ¥9,800 max cost and four-placement limit make it easy to cover expensive Magical carries without sacrificing much of the map's upgrade budget.
  • Shadow, Puppet, Crow, Dark Mage, Elf Mage, and other Magical options give this buff an excellent current roster to amplify.
  • She drops from S only because Physical-heavy or mixed teams can get almost nothing from the slot. Inside an optimized Magical composition, she still performs like S Tier support.
The Hero Anime Expeditions unit

The Hero

Legendary Support No Element Physical Physical Damage Buff

Best Trait: Primordial

Inspired by Himmel from Frieren: Beyond Journey's End.

  • Hero Blessing increases the Damage of every Physical unit in range, with another 5% buff strength per upgrade. Around 8th Sword, Cursed Student, Reaper, or Lady Giant, the slot easily pays for itself.
  • The four-placement limit and tiny ¥9,800 max cost make him one of the most efficient supports in the game.
  • He ranks below Forbidden Teacher because the current meta has more top-end Magical cores, not because the Physical buff is weak.
  • Outside a Physical-heavy setup he is dead weight, so he remains an excellent specialist rather than a universal S Tier unit.
Ramen Guy Anime Expeditions unit

Ramen Guy

Legendary Farm No Element Physical Yen Boost

Best Trait: Investor

Inspired by Teuchi from Naruto.

  • The best pure economy unit, but mode length decides whether the slot pays off. Ramen Guy generates ¥11,500 per income cycle at full investment and Donburi increases Yen earned from kills by 50%.
  • Investor is the obvious trait because it directly adds 25% Yen Generated; damage traits do nothing for a unit that never attacks.
  • In Infinite and other long modes the extra Yen snowballs into earlier max upgrades across the whole team, which can outperform bringing a sixth damage unit.
  • Short stages can end before the economy repays the roster slot, and Capital Lock makes selling inefficient. That mode dependence is why Ramen is A Tier overall instead of a universal S Tier pick.
Stone Alchemist Senku Anime Expeditions unit

Stone Alchemist

Epic Farm Physical Yen Generation

Best Trait: Investor

Inspired by Senku Ishigami from Dr. Stone.

  • The accessible secondary economy pick. Stone Alchemist earns ¥3,500 per income cycle at full investment and asks for only ¥8,350 to reach his final tier.
  • Investor directly improves Yen Generated by 25%, which is one of the few trait effects that actually matters on a zero-damage farm unit.
  • Ramen Guy has the stronger late-game economy ceiling, but Stone is easier to obtain, can be placed three times, and starts paying into progression without requiring a premium roster.
  • He belongs in A Tier for progression and long modes, not because of combat: he deals no damage and costs a team slot that short stages may never repay.
B

Anime Expeditions B Tier Units

B Tier is where strong but increasingly specialized units land after the latest balance and meta reassessment. These units can still clear difficult content and several have excellent niches, but they now lose too much to the S and A Tier options in raw ceiling, team value, consistency, setup requirements, or roster-slot efficiency to rank higher overall.

Anime Expeditions B Tier unit rankings, attributes, status effects, and evaluations
Unit Evaluation
Flame Emperor Reincarnate Anime Expeditions unit

Flame Emperor (Reincarnate)

Mythic DPS Flame Magical Burn / Burn Spread

Best Trait: Draconic or Primordial

Inspired by Sabo from One Piece.

  • A useful Burn specialist that has been power-crept out of A Tier overall. Flame Emperor reaches 518 Damage / 6.3 SPA at max, or about 82 raw PWR, with five placements and 32 Range.
  • Wildfire spreads each Burn application to three nearby enemies, while Emperor's Attire improves that to five. Wall of Fire can also seed Burn across a chosen lane instead of relying only on regular targeting.
  • That makes him an excellent setup piece for Hollow (Blaze) and a reliable extra Status Effect source for Prodigy, so Flame-focused teams still have a clear reason to use him.
  • The problem is personal output: current S/A carries and supports create substantially more value per roster slot. Burn teams can make him look A Tier, but outside them he is now a solid B.
Toy Maker Anime Expeditions unit

Toy Maker

Exclusive Support Dark Psychic Summons / Blocking

Best Trait: Unbound

Inspired by Sugar from One Piece.

  • Toy Maker's huge listed PWR is misleading if read like normal DPS. He does not attack directly; his Damage stat becomes Toy Health, and his one placement continuously sends blockers onto paths covered by his range.
  • Toys gain movement speed, explode for 10% of their max Health on death, and every fifth summon cycle creates a mutated Toy with 150% more Health, giving him excellent stall value on long waves.
  • He can cover multiple routes from one placement, but Toy Health is divided between those routes. Boss-only encounters also expose the biggest weakness of dedicating a roster slot to a non-attacker.
  • Toy Maker can still perform like A Tier in Infinite or multi-lane Challenges where stalling creates several extra attack cycles. His narrower usefulness keeps him in B Tier overall.
Reaper Released Anime Expeditions unit

Reaper (Released)

Mythic DPS Light Physical Adaptation / Crit Scaling

Best Trait: Forsaken or Unbound

Inspired by Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach.

  • Reaper remains a respectable evolved carry at 1,058 Damage / 6.0 SPA, roughly 176 raw PWR, with three placements and a relatively manageable ¥35,600 max cost.
  • Adaptation permanently adds 5% Damage and 5% Critical Chance for each different enemy type he attacks. Spirit of the Moonblade doubles both gains to 10%, dramatically improving his ceiling on varied stages.
  • Critical Tempo converts Crits into up to 15% lower SPA, while Mirage Step now offers frequent relocation plus a 50%-base-Damage clone and Mirage Swap can cleanse a Stun.
  • He drops to B because too much of that ceiling depends on enemy variety. Against stages with only a few types, he cannot fully exploit Adaptation and offers no major team amplification or elite crowd control to compensate.
Hollow Blaze Anime Expeditions unit

Hollow (Blaze)

Mythic DPS Flame Physical Austere Flames / Burn Synergy

Best Trait: Draconic or Primordial

Inspired by Gabimaru from Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku.

  • Hollow is still dangerous in the team he was built for. His max line reaches 1,388 Damage / 7.3 SPA, and attacking Burning enemies or letting Burn expire inside his range converts applications into Austere Flames.
  • Radial Flames normally deals 65% of Hollow's current Damage; Hell's Flower raises that conversion to 85%, giving fully geared Burn teams a meaningful sustained-damage payoff.
  • Flame Emperor is his natural partner because continuous Burn spreading creates far more Austere Flame triggers than Hollow can manufacture by himself.
  • That dependence is why he falls to B. At ¥55,150 to max, an expensive carry that needs another specific roster slot to unlock its main loop is harder to recommend than the current self-sufficient A/S options.
Greed Ban Anime Expeditions unit

Greed

Legendary DPS Dark Physical Boss Damage

Best Trait: Primordial or Forsaken

Inspired by Ban from The Seven Deadly Sins.

  • A cheap boss specialist that still has real progression value. Greed costs only ¥13,800 to max, has three placements, and finishes at 325 Damage / 4.8 SPA with 25 Range.
  • Fox Hunt is simple but useful: Greed deals 20% more Damage to Boss enemies, so his practical boss output is better than the 68 raw PWR shown by his regular stat line.
  • Three placements and low investment make him easy to field while more expensive carries are still upgrading, which is valuable for newer accounts and restrictive Challenges.
  • He stays in B because the passive is essentially his entire niche. Modern Mythic, Secret, and Exclusive units bring much stronger scaling, AoE, utility, or team synergy once your roster develops.
Ice Queen Rukia Anime Expeditions unit

Ice Queen

Legendary DPS Hydro Magical Execute Damage

Best Trait: Primordial or Forsaken

Inspired by Rukia Kuchiki from Bleach.

  • Ice Queen is a straightforward, inexpensive Legendary with 330 Damage / 4.9 SPA, four placements, 22 Range, and only ¥13,450 required to max one copy.
  • Soul Rend deals 20% more Damage to enemies below 20% Health, giving her a useful finishing bonus against bosses and durable enemies that survive the main damage zone.
  • Four placements and cheap upgrades make her perfectly usable for progression, Hydro restrictions, and accounts that do not yet have evolved endgame carries.
  • The current meta simply asks more from a high-tier roster slot. Soul Rend is helpful but narrow, while Ice Queen has no team buff, hard CC, transformation, summon, or scaling engine to push her above B.
Scissor Riyo Anime Expeditions unit

Scissor

Legendary DPS Terra Physical Stacking Cuts

Best Trait: Primordial or Forsaken

Inspired by Riyo Reaper.

  • Scissor is one of the better basic boss-focused Legendaries: 450 Damage / 6.0 SPA, 24 Range, three placements, and only ¥10,550 to reach max upgrade.
  • Stacking Cuts increases Damage by 5% for each consecutive Regular Attack on the same enemy, up to a 20% cap. Bosses naturally let her hold those stacks longer than disposable waves.
  • The low cost and predictable passive make Scissor a useful progression unit and a reasonable answer when a Terra/Physical slot is specifically required.
  • She ranks in B because the ceiling is modest even at full stacks. The passive improves one uncomplicated damage loop rather than adding control, team amplification, extra attacks, or the major scaling engines found higher up.
Cursed Immortal Black Sun Anime Expeditions unit

Cursed Immortal (Black Sun)

Mythic DPS Dark Magical Mobile Aura / State Cycle

Best Trait: Unbound

Inspired by Zeref Dragneel from Fairy Tail.

  • Cursed Immortal is powerful but awkward enough that raw-stat comparisons overrate him. He does not make normal attacks; instead he walks the path and damages every enemy caught inside his aura.
  • Reckless Control cycles between Caring State, which deals 50% Damage across half his range, and Cold State, which deals 125% Damage inside only a quarter of his range. State changes also build Critical Chance up to 30%.
  • Memory Pendant substantially improves the concept by expanding Caring State to 75% of his range and increasing Cold State to 150% Damage, so a finished build can still shred dense lanes.
  • The issue is control and consistency. He follows the path instead of holding a chosen kill zone, his strongest state has a very tight aura, and he provides no team amplification. Those trade-offs move him from his old top-tier reputation into B overall.
Bioinsect Final Form Cell Anime Expeditions unit

Bioinsect (Final Form)

Mythic Support Terra Magical Copy / Slow / Stun / Forms

Best Trait: Primordial

Inspired by Cell from Dragon Ball Z.

  • This is the most important demotion in the update. Bioinsect still copies 50% of the strongest nearby unit's base Damage, but the previous 10% Damage buff to that ally is no longer part of Genetic Code.
  • Semiperfect form remains excellent control: Bio Gel applies a 60% Slow for five seconds and then Stuns for three seconds. Perfect form can further scale Range and AoE size from takedowns.
  • The ¥1,350 placement cost is absurdly cheap, but reaching those forms requires 50 takedowns, defeating a 10,000-HP Mecha 17, another 50 takedowns, and then defeating a 20,000-HP Mecha 18.
  • Without the removed ally Damage buff, Bioinsect is now a long-ramp copy/control specialist rather than a nearly free universal amplifier. That makes B Tier the correct overall home, even though long modes can still make him look much stronger.

So there you have it, that's the reasoning behind my S and A tiers in the Anime Expeditions Tier List. There's no point going through the remaining tiers as those units either don't have any passives or are simply not meta-relevant enough for me to take enough time to write about them, to be honest.

Anime Expeditions Equipment Tier List

This section covers only exclusive gear that is unique to some of the top meta units. In my opinion, these units are simply not complete without the passives and abilities provided by their equipment pieces. If you want a unit to reach its full power and potential, you will need to equip it with the right exclusive gear.

Check out the full list below.

Gear

Best Anime Expeditions Unit Equipment

Unit Equipment in Anime Expeditions does much more than provide a couple of small stat bonuses. Most pieces unlock a unit-defining Equipment Passive, meaning the right gear can fix a unit’s biggest weakness, complete its build, or push an already strong character into the meta.

Webbed Fruit equipment in Anime Expeditions

Webbed Fruit

Exclusive to String Demon (Awakened)

Unit Equipment +1% Range -1% SPA
Equipment Passive: Cocoon of Carnage
  • Every five regular attacks Cocoons all enemies hit.
  • Cocooned enemies are Stunned until the Cocoon takes 10 hits or five seconds pass.
  • Breaking it with 10 hits deals 125% of String Demon’s current Damage.
  • The Cocoon despawns without bonus damage if it is not broken in time.
  • Core gear for String Demon. The extra Range and lower SPA both help him cycle Cocoons more consistently.
  • Fast-hitting teams get the full value by breaking each Cocoon for the 125% burst. Slower comps still get up to five seconds of AoE Stun, but leave a lot of damage on the table.
  • This is the piece that turns String Demon from a decent Magical DPS into a proper crowd-control carry.
Technique Amplifier equipment in Anime Expeditions

Technique Amplifier

Exclusive to Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1)

Unit Equipment -1% SPA +1% Range
Equipment Passive: Crumble Away
  • Applies Slow based on Salmon Sorcerer’s current attack.
  • Explode: 20% Slow.
  • Blast Away: 35% Slow.
  • Twist: 50% Slow.
  • Crush: 65% Slow.
  • This is why Salmon Sorcerer is such a nasty late-game support. His Slow scales from useful to completely obnoxious as his attack changes.
  • The Range bonus helps him cover more of the kill zone, while lower SPA improves both his Slow uptime and personal damage.
  • At 65% Slow, enemies crawl through your DPS ranges. There is almost no reason to run Salmon without this equipped.
Spirit of the Moonblade equipment in Anime Expeditions

Spirit of the Moonblade

Exclusive to Reaper (Released)

Unit Equipment +1% Crit Chance +1% Crit Damage
Equipment Passive: Adaptation
  • Reaper gains permanent buffs after attacking different enemy types.
  • Each distinct enemy type grants +10% Damage.
  • Each distinct enemy type also grants +10% Critical Chance.
  • Reaper’s main scaling engine. Mixed-enemy stages let him stack Damage and Crit extremely quickly.
  • The added Crit also feeds Critical Tempo, which lowers his SPA after critical attacks. Once the passives start looping together, his DPS ramps hard.
  • It is less impressive in short stages or maps with little enemy variety, but in longer content this is easily his best-in-slot equipment.
Promise Ring equipment in Anime Expeditions

Promise Ring

Exclusive to Cursed Student (True Love)

Unit Equipment +1% Damage -1% SPA
Equipment Passive: Spirit Bats
  • Every 20 Bleed stacks accumulated within range summons a Bat Spirit.
  • A maximum of three Bat Spirits can exist at once.
  • Each Bat Spirit deals 25% of Cursed Student’s current Damage per attack.
  • Bat Spirits despawn after performing three attacks.
  • Excellent in a dedicated Bleed comp, where the Bat Spirits keep spawning and add a steady stream of free follow-up damage.
  • The lower SPA also helps Cursed Student reach his Cursed Mimicry procs faster, so the base stats are useful even before the bats appear.
  • Without another unit consistently stacking Bleed, the equipment passive barely exists. Build around it or use Promise Ring as a glorified stat stick.
Hell's Flower equipment in Anime Expeditions

Hell’s Flower

Exclusive to Hollow (Blaze)

Unit Equipment +1% Damage -1% SPA
Equipment Passive: Radial Flames
  • When Burn stops ticking on an enemy within Hollow’s range, one Burn application becomes Austere Flames.
  • Austere Flames deals 85% of Hollow’s current Damage.
  • Separate Radial Flames instances do not stack with one another.
  • This equipment supplies one of Hollow’s biggest Burn payoffs, converting expired applications into another chunk of damage.
  • Pair it with Flame Emperor and Hollow constantly cashes in Burns instead of waiting around for enemies to walk out of range.
  • It is premium gear in a Burn comp and fairly underwhelming without one. Hollow is a specialist, and Hell’s Flower does not pretend otherwise.
Hair Bells equipment in Anime Expeditions

Hair Bells

Exclusive to 8th Sword (Berserk)

Unit Equipment +1% Damage +1% Range
Equipment Passive: Demonic Presence
  • Enemies within 50% of 8th Sword’s Range take 15% of his current Damage every second.
Equipment Passive: Savage Rebound
  • Immediately cleanses Stun whenever 8th Sword is Stunned.
  • Triggers Thunderclap Cut for 125% of current Damage.
  • All of his follow-up attacks apply Dismembered.
  • One of the strongest equipment pieces in the game. Demonic Presence turns half of 8th Sword’s Range into a constant damage aura.
  • The Range stat is especially valuable because it also expands the effective area of Demonic Presence.
  • Savage Rebound hard-counters Stun mechanics while rewarding the enemy for trying with a 125% follow-up attack.
  • Hair Bells improves his damage, survivability, crowd control, and consistency. It is basically mandatory once you own it.
Emperor's Attire equipment in Anime Expeditions

Emperor’s Attire

Exclusive to Flame Emperor (Reincarnate)

Unit Equipment +1% Damage +1% Range
Equipment Passive: Wildfire
  • Whenever Flame Emperor applies Burn, it spreads to the five nearest enemies without Burn.
  • Emperor’s Attire turns a single Burn application into near-instant coverage across an entire enemy pack.
  • It massively improves Flame Emperor’s wave clear and makes him the best Burn enabler for units such as Hollow.
  • The passive matters less against an isolated boss, but the Damage and Range bonuses are always useful.
  • For general play and Burn comps, this is a clear best-in-slot piece and a major part of Flame Emperor’s S Tier value.

Best Anime Expeditions Team Comps

Update 1 makes role coverage even more important: Crow supplies dedicated anti-shield pressure, Dark Mage adds dense-wave control and lane damage, Razorjaw brings recurring Stagger plus a full-path sweep, and Cursed Immortal functions as a moving lane unit rather than a normal stationary placement. The teams below use six distinct units and are built around the demands of each mode.

Team-building rule: Preserve the defining interaction first, then adjust the farm, control, or secondary-carry slot around the map. Ramen Guy is a default long-mode pick, not an automatic choice on short stages.

Team Comp / Units Evaluation

Update 1 Meta Magical Core

The strongest all-purpose endgame shell, combining Magical amplification, boss damage amp, shield coverage, crowd clearing, and economy.

Update 1 Endgame Raid Magical Core Shield Coverage
Shadow (Divine) Anime Expeditions unit
Shadow (Divine) Global Magical buff / Carry
Dark Mage (Sovereign) Anime Expeditions unit
Dark Mage (Sovereign) AoE carry / Freeze / Arc
Crow (Black Fire) Anime Expeditions unit

Forbidden Teacher Anime Expeditions unit

Puppet (Telekinetic) Anime Expeditions unit
Puppet (Telekinetic) Boss amp / Rewind
Ramen Guy Anime Expeditions unit
Ramen Guy Economy / Faster setup

Core sequence: Apply Puppet Mark, activate Shadow Realm, and let Crow’s Illusion detonation and Dark Mage’s strongest damage cycle land during the same amplified window.

  • Best for: Raids, Villain Invasion, difficult Story acts, longer Challenges, and any stage mixing dangerous bosses with shielded or tightly packed waves.
  • How it works: Shadow Realm globally increases the Damage of Magical units, while Forbidden Teacher locally buffs Shadow, Dark Mage, and Crow. Puppet Mark then increases all incoming damage against the strongest enemy, including damage from units that do not share the same attack type.
  • Matchup coverage: Dark Mage handles dense waves through Magic Cycle, Freeze, and the Lightning Arc. Crow supplies the anti-shield niche and delayed Illusion burst, while Shadow adds summons, Stun, Rewind, and another premium carry in one slot.
  • Placement: Keep Shadow, Dark Mage, and Crow inside Forbidden Teacher’s range. Puppet only needs reliable coverage of the boss or strongest enemy, and Ramen Guy should be placed where selling him later will not be necessary.
  • Weaknesses: This is an expensive setup and can feel slow before the main carries reach their defining upgrades. Dark Mage’s forced form cycle and Crow’s delayed detonation also make the damage less immediate than a simple burst lineup.
  • Replacements: On short stages, replace Ramen Guy with Crimson or Flame Emperor. Salmon Sorcerer is the better swap when leaks and fast enemies are the real problem. If a map has no shields, Crow becomes optional rather than mandatory.

Crow Anti-Shield Challenge Team

A no-farm combat lineup built to dismantle shielded waves while keeping them trapped inside overlapping Magical damage zones.

Shield Break Challenge Villain Invasion Full Combat Magical Stack
Crow (Black Fire) Anime Expeditions unit
Crow (Black Fire) Primary shield breaker
Dark Mage (Sovereign) Anime Expeditions unit
Dark Mage (Sovereign) Freeze / Lightning lane damage
Flame Emperor (Reincarnate) Anime Expeditions unit

Shadow (Divine) Anime Expeditions unit
Shadow (Divine) Global buff / Rewind
Forbidden Teacher Anime Expeditions unit
Forbidden Teacher Magical damage buffer
Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1) Anime Expeditions unit
Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1) Slow / Stagger control

Core requirement: Crow must cover the shielded enemies while Salmon keeps them inside Dark Mage’s Arc, Flame Emperor’s Wall of Fire, and the main Magical kill zone.

  • Best for: Shield-heavy Challenges, Villain Invasion stages, and modifiers where defensive enemies survive long enough to drag the rest of the wave out of position.
  • How it works: Crow’s Black Fire repeatedly damages shields and builds pressure on shielded targets. Dark Mage and Flame Emperor clear the enemies surrounding them, preventing Crow from wasting too much time on the rest of the pack.
  • Buff stack: Every attacking unit in this lineup is Magical, so Shadow Realm improves the entire combat core. Forbidden Teacher adds another local multiplier to the units clustered around the primary lane.
  • Control layer: Place Salmon near the entrance of the kill zone. Slow and Stagger give Crow more time to cycle Illusion and Black Fire while keeping enemies inside the Lightning Arc and Wall of Fire.
  • Weaknesses: The team gives up both economy and Puppet’s universal boss amplification. It is also excessive on stages without shields, where a more conventional carry or farm slot produces better overall value.
  • Replacements: Puppet can replace Salmon when a single boss is the bottleneck. Ramen Guy can replace Flame Emperor on a long stage with a forgiving early game, while Crimson is excellent on a straight lane that rewards concentrated damage.

Austere Flames Burn Engine

A status-focused composition that turns Flame Emperor’s Burn coverage into repeated Hollow damage while Dark Mage supplies independent AoE and control.

Burn Synergy Expedition Challenge Mixed Damage No Secret Required
Flame Emperor (Reincarnate) Anime Expeditions unit
Flame Emperor (Reincarnate) Primary Burn applicator
Hollow (Blaze) Anime Expeditions unit

Dark Mage (Sovereign) Anime Expeditions unit

Puppet (Telekinetic) Anime Expeditions unit
Puppet (Telekinetic) Universal damage amp
Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1) Anime Expeditions unit
Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1) Slow / Stagger control
Ramen Guy Anime Expeditions unit
Ramen Guy Economy

Core requirement: Establish Flame Emperor’s Burn coverage before investing heavily in Hollow, and keep burning enemies inside Hollow’s range until his conversion effects trigger.

  • Best for: Dense Story waves, Expedition routes, long Challenges, and other stages where enemies remain grouped inside one kill zone for several attack cycles.
  • How it works: Flame Emperor spreads Burn and places Wall of Fire across the path. Hollow converts active or expiring Burn applications into Austere Flames, adding a second damage layer that scales from Hollow rather than from the original Burn applier.
  • Independent carry: Dark Mage prevents the team from becoming completely dependent on the Burn loop. Freeze, Frostbite, and the Lightning Arc add wave control and lane damage even when Hollow is between conversions or attacking the wrong target.
  • Support structure: Salmon holds enemies inside the shared Flame Emperor and Hollow coverage, Puppet amplifies the strongest survivor, and Ramen Guy helps fund three expensive evolved Mythics.
  • Weaknesses: Hollow loses much of his value when Burn coverage is inconsistent. The team also mixes Physical, Magical, and Psychic damage, so neither Forbidden Teacher nor The Hero can efficiently buff the entire lineup.
  • Replacements: Shadow can replace Dark Mage for stronger global utility and burst. Crow is the better replacement on shield-heavy stages, while Crimson can replace Ramen Guy when the stage is too short for farming to pay off.

Physical Raid Carry Core

A Physical-focused boss team that uses takedown scaling, copied attacks, Razorjaw’s lane sweep, and two separate damage multipliers.

Raid Boss + Adds Physical Core Path Sweep Economy
8th Sword (Berserk) Anime Expeditions unit
8th Sword (Berserk) Scaling Physical carry

Razorjaw (Hunter) Full AoE Stagger / Path sweep
The Hero Anime Expeditions unit
The Hero Physical damage buffer
Puppet (Telekinetic) Anime Expeditions unit
Puppet (Telekinetic) Strongest-target amp
Ramen Guy Anime Expeditions unit
Ramen Guy Economy

Placement priority: Keep Cursed Student closest to 8th Sword once 8th Sword has accumulated takedowns; Razorjaw can cover a wider section of the lane independently.

  • Best for: Raids and boss stages that send enough smaller enemies for 8th Sword and Razorjaw to build their permanent or stacking bonuses before the main target arrives.
  • How it works: The Hero buffs all three Physical carries. Puppet Mark then increases incoming damage to the strongest enemy, giving the lineup a second multiplier that also benefits Puppet’s own attacks.
  • Carry interaction: Cursed Student copies the closest ally’s attack after every three regular attacks. Once 8th Sword has gained permanent Damage from takedowns, positioning the two together gives Cursed Student a much stronger source attack.
  • Razorjaw’s job: Roar adds recurring Full AoE damage and Stagger while building Critical Chance from enemies hit. Endless Slashes can then clear an established lane, catch leaks, or cut through a boss push from one end of the path to the other.
  • Weaknesses: Pure boss stages with few or no adds slow both 8th Sword’s takedown scaling and Razorjaw’s Crit growth. The team also has less sustained blocking than the previous Lady Giant version.
  • Replacements: Lady Giant can replace Razorjaw when Stone Walls matter more than path damage. Reaper is stronger on enemy-diverse maps, Greed is a simple pure-boss budget option, and Salmon can replace Ramen Guy when early control is more important than economy.

Infinite and High-Wave Scaling

A slow-starting late-game team built around three different scaling systems, global Magical support, crowd control, and long-run economy.

Infinite Tournament Long Challenge Scaling Economy
8th Sword (Berserk) Anime Expeditions unit
8th Sword (Berserk) Takedown Damage scaling
Elf Mage (Unleashed) Anime Expeditions unit
Elf Mage (Unleashed) Arcane Spell scaling
Cursed Immortal (Black Sun) Anime Expeditions unit
Cursed Immortal (Black Sun) Moving aura / Crit scaling
Shadow (Divine) Anime Expeditions unit
Shadow (Divine) Global buff / Summons / Rewind
Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1) Anime Expeditions unit
Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1) Slow / Stagger
Ramen Guy Anime Expeditions unit
Ramen Guy Long-run economy

Win condition: Survive the early investment phase, then let 8th Sword, Elf Mage, and Cursed Immortal accumulate separate permanent or repeatable bonuses while Shadow supports the whole map.

  • Best for: Infinite, long Tournament runs, and extended wave-based content where permanent scaling and expensive upgrades have enough time to outperform immediate burst teams.
  • Three scaling engines: 8th Sword gains permanent Damage from takedowns, Elf Mage increases Arcane Spell Damage after completed charge cycles, and Cursed Immortal gains Critical Chance as he repeatedly changes states.
  • Why Shadow fits: Cursed Immortal moves down the lane instead of remaining at his placement point, so a local buffer cannot reliably stay with him. Shadow Realm is global and continues buffing both him and Elf Mage regardless of where Cursed Immortal has traveled.
  • Control and economy: Salmon protects the static kill zone used by 8th Sword and Elf Mage, while Ramen Guy accelerates a roster with several costly max upgrades.
  • Weaknesses: Cursed Immortal is highly map-dependent, and his tighter high-damage state can miss enemies that are not close to his route. The comp is also expensive and gives up Puppet’s direct boss amplification.
  • Replacements: Reaper can replace Cursed Immortal on awkward or split-path maps. Puppet can replace Salmon when boss DPS is the limiting factor, while Toy Maker can replace Ramen Guy after the economy is already established and stalling becomes more valuable.

Wandering Death Long-Lane Core

A dedicated Cursed Immortal lineup that supports his moving aura with global buffs and fixed path hazards rather than static local range bonuses.

Long Lane Infinite Magical Core Moving Unit Boss Pressure
Cursed Immortal (Black Sun) Anime Expeditions unit
Cursed Immortal (Black Sun) Moving aura carry
Shadow (Divine) Anime Expeditions unit

Flame Emperor (Reincarnate) Anime Expeditions unit
Flame Emperor (Reincarnate) Wall of Fire / Burn spread
Puppet (Telekinetic) Anime Expeditions unit
Puppet (Telekinetic) Boss amp / Rewind
Ramen Guy Anime Expeditions unit
Ramen Guy Economy

Core interaction: Cursed Immortal travels through the lane while Shadow’s global buff follows him; Dark Mage’s Arc and Flame Emperor’s Wall of Fire create stationary damage zones along the same route.

  • Best for: Long, predictable single-lane maps where Cursed Immortal can remain close to enemies for extended periods and repeatedly pass through packed waves without being stopped by collision combat.
  • How it works: Cursed Immortal alternates between a wider, safer Caring aura and a tighter, harder-hitting Cold aura while moving. Repeated state changes gradually increase his Critical Chance, making the composition much stronger over time.
  • Path layering: Dark Mage’s Lightning Arc and Flame Emperor’s Wall of Fire damage enemies at fixed points before or after Cursed Immortal reaches them. This reduces the amount of work his narrow Cold aura must do by itself.
  • Support choice: Shadow is far better here than Forbidden Teacher because Shadow Realm is global. Puppet marks the strongest enemy for increased incoming damage and can Rewind a boss back into the path hazards.
  • Weaknesses: The lineup is noticeably worse on short, branching, or awkwardly curved maps. Cursed Immortal cannot be treated like a normal stationary tower, and a poorly aligned route can waste much of the Cold-state aura.
  • Replacements: Salmon can replace Ramen Guy when enemies separate too quickly. Crow can replace Flame Emperor on shield-heavy stages, while Elf Mage is a safer replacement for Cursed Immortal when the map does not suit a moving unit.

Expedition Payload Control

A defensive multi-lane composition that stacks Toys, Stone Walls, Slow, Stagger, Freeze, Stun, and Rewind to maximize effective attack time.

Payload Heavy Control Split Paths Multi-Lane Economy

Toy Maker Multi-path blockers
Lady Giant (Envy) Anime Expeditions unit

Dark Mage (Sovereign) Freeze / Lightning Arc
Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1) Anime Expeditions unit
Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1) Slow / Entry Stagger
Ramen Guy Anime Expeditions unit
Ramen Guy Economy

Map requirement: Place Toy Maker where his range reaches the routes that need help most, remembering that Toy Health is divided when he covers multiple paths.

  • Best for: Expedition Payload, leak-prone Story acts, and maps with several paths converging around a central damage area.
  • How it works: Toy Maker continuously sends blockers onto covered paths, while Lady Giant maintains up to two Stone Walls. These separate delays create several extra attack windows before enemies reach the payload or exit.
  • Control chain: Salmon slows and Staggers enemies entering the kill zone, Dark Mage adds Freeze and recurring lane damage, and Shadow supplies Stun, Rewind, summons, and the main burst button.
  • Strength: The team is built around effective attack time rather than raw damage-sheet output. It can stabilize maps where a theoretically stronger six-carry lineup repeatedly leaks on different routes.
  • Weaknesses: Toy Maker and Lady Giant consume two slots without providing top-tier boss amplification. On a short single-lane stage, the control is redundant and a direct DPS unit clears faster.
  • Replacements: Razorjaw can replace Lady Giant when a full-path sweep is more useful than walls. Crow should replace Dark Mage when shields are the main mechanic, and Puppet can replace Toy Maker when the stage ends in one difficult boss rather than repeated lane pressure.

No-Secret Magical Progression

The cleanest banner-based endgame team, using three complementary Magical carries with a type buffer, universal boss amp, and economy.

No Secret Progression Story Magical Core Raid Ready
Dark Mage (Sovereign) Anime Expeditions unit
Dark Mage (Sovereign) Main carry / Control
Flame Emperor (Reincarnate) Anime Expeditions unit

Elf Mage (Unleashed) Scaling Full AoE carry
Forbidden Teacher Anime Expeditions unit
Forbidden Teacher Magical damage buffer
Puppet (Telekinetic) Anime Expeditions unit
Puppet (Telekinetic) Universal amp / Rewind
Ramen Guy Anime Expeditions unit
Ramen Guy Economy

Upgrade order: Establish one functioning carry first, then upgrade Forbidden Teacher only after Dark Mage, Flame Emperor, or Elf Mage can actually convert the buff into meaningful damage.

  • Best for: Story progression, Challenges, Expeditions, and early endgame accounts that have evolved Mythics but have not obtained Shadow, Crow, or 8th Sword.
  • How it works: Dark Mage covers control and lane damage, Flame Emperor spreads Burn through dense waves, and Elf Mage provides reliable Line, Circle, and Full AoE follow-up attacks with long-stage scaling.
  • Support: Forbidden Teacher improves all three carries at once. Puppet adds a universal damage multiplier against the strongest enemy, while Ramen Guy helps pay for a roster with several expensive upgrade trees.
  • Strength: Unlike the previous mixed Burn progression team, this lineup fully exploits a Magical buffer without giving up boss amp, economy, or independent damage sources.
  • Weaknesses: It still requires multiple evolved Mythics and is therefore not a true starter lineup. It also lacks Crow’s dedicated anti-shield mechanics and can feel slow on stages that end before the scaling carries complete their cycles.
  • Replacements: Crimson is the best replacement for Dark Mage if the limited unit is unavailable. Salmon can replace Ramen Guy on short or leak-prone stages, while Crow immediately replaces the least useful carry whenever shields become the central mechanic.

No-Secret Physical Progression

A practical Physical lineup that replaces Secret-level scaling with Razorjaw’s lane pressure, Cursed Student’s copied attacks, and Lady Giant’s walls.

No Secret Progression Physical Core Raid Ready Boss + Waves
Razorjaw (Hunter) Anime Expeditions unit
Razorjaw (Hunter) Primary carry / Path sweep

Lady Giant (Envy) AoE / Stone Walls
The Hero Anime Expeditions unit
The Hero Physical damage buffer
Puppet (Telekinetic) Anime Expeditions unit
Puppet (Telekinetic) Boss amp / Rewind
Ramen Guy Anime Expeditions unit
Ramen Guy Economy

Core interaction: The Hero buffs all three Physical carries, while Cursed Student should be closest to whichever upgraded carry currently has the highest Damage.

  • Best for: Story progression, Raids with boss adds, Challenges, and accounts that have not obtained 8th Sword.
  • How it works: Razorjaw handles broad lane pressure through Roar and Endless Slashes, Lady Giant supplies AoE and Stone Walls, and Cursed Student converts the strongest nearby Physical attack into additional follow-up damage.
  • Support: The Hero buffs all three carries simultaneously. Puppet Mark increases incoming damage to the strongest enemy, helping the team finish bosses without sacrificing its wave-clearing structure.
  • Placement: Fit the three Physical carries inside The Hero’s range, but keep Cursed Student closest to the intended copy target rather than to The Hero, Puppet, or Ramen Guy.
  • Weaknesses: Razorjaw builds Crit more slowly on low-density boss stages, and Cursed Student loses considerable value if the wrong ally becomes the closest target. The team also lacks Shadow’s global recovery button and permanent summons.
  • Replacements: Reaper can replace Lady Giant on enemy-diverse maps, while Greed is a simpler pure-boss alternative. Salmon should replace Ramen Guy when fast enemies are ending the run before the farm slot starts paying for itself.

For now, that’s all I have to say about the best units in Anime Expeditions for the release meta. Thanks for reading, and if you enjoyed my analysis, feel free to check out some of the other pieces I’ve written in our Roblox guides section.
