When assembling your team in Twilight Chronicle, you need to choose six characters that work best together from among your current roster of units.

  • Make sure to strike the right balance among your team's offensive, defensive, and supporting units. Pure damage might work early on, but it becomes less effective as you progress.
  • Always try to activate Fateful Bonds between your characters if you can, and be mindful of what each faction wants to do so that you can optimize your team with that goal in mind.

While there are lower rarity units that are worth leveling when you're first starting the game, they are quickly overshadowed by the higher rarity ones. That's why this tier list will be focusing on the SSR+ characters, so you know which ones you should pull for.

S Tier - The Meta Characters

The best characters in Twilight Chronicle, regardless of where you're at in the game. They provide everything you need in a unit and are good in any team, instantly making it better with their addition.

CharacterDetails

Luna
Lightforged Sanctuary
Assault
+ Amazing damage dealer, capable of doing true damage with her skill and ultimate, while also applying Holy Seals that deal additional true damage when triggered.

+ Luna gains Moonlight Marks every time an ally takes an action and unleashes massive damage to all enemies after 15 stacks, providing occasional bursts of enormous damage throughout the battle.

Sariel
Arcane Web Phantom
Guard
+ Sariel is the best unit in the game when it comes to protecting your team, granting himself and the squishiest ally a shield with his Holy Light Guardian skill.

+ He also applies the Holy Guardian buff to the team, recovering their HP every turn, and reducing the enemy's chance to land a critical hit

+ Further increases your team's survivability by inflicting Attack Down on enemies, applying a 20% reduction to their attack stat.
Van Helsing in Twilight Chronicle
Van Helsing
Demonhunt Blade
Assassin
+ Van Helsing is a very fast attacker that focuses on basic attacks and enhancing them through his Holy Silver Bolt stacks, offering great and consistent damage, while also charging his Rapid Fire attack for big bursts of damage.

+ Always attacks first in the battle, using his Firepower Barrage ultimate to deal massive area of effect damage, deleting weaker enemies and potentially clearing the stage on the first turn.
Ling in Twilight Chronicle
Ling
Arcane Web Phantom
Assault
+ Ling deals massive upfront damage to multiple enemies with her abilities, while also inflicting them with Infect, which deals amazing damage over time that scales with her attack.

+ Demonblade - Soulcross is an amazing passive that stacks up every time she inflicts Infect, increasing her attack by up to 20%, activates Demonblade Domain at six stacks ( to decrease the enemy's damage output), and even triggers a free ultimate at 14 stacks.

Raphael
Lightforged Sanctuary
Support
+ Raphael is the best healer in the game by far, making it almost impossible for your team to die, due to her short cooldowns that affect the whole team

+ Gives bonus healing to the ally with the least HP currently.

+ Gains Mercy stacks throughout the battle, which further boost her healing output and even provides passive healing upon getting them. If somehow someone on your team does die, she can revive them by using up four of those stacks.

Michael
Lightforged Sanctuary
Assault
+ Michael is able to dish out insane AoE damage with her Purifying Lightstrike and amazing single-target damage with her Sheen Verdict ultimate, which also dispels all their buffs.

+ All her attacks also apply Holy Seals, and every time she does, she gains a stack of Apotheosis. This increases her attack and defense, gives her defense ignore, and grants her immunity to control effects.

Adele
Demonhunt Blade
Assassin
+ Adele deals significant single-target damage, prioritizing enemies with the lowest defense and applying Sigil on all of her attacks, reducing their speed and dealing bursts of true damage when it's fully stacked.

+ Every time she does a critical strike, Adele activates Demon Slay, which gives her a bonus attack and gives her a stack of Calm that increases her crit chance and crit damage, scaling up throughout the fight.

A Tier - Strong Characters

Very strong characters that bring either amazing damage or awesome utility to your team. While they might not be as all-around powerful as the ones in the S Tier, these are all still great characters that will be the core of your team.

CharacterDetails

Renais
Lightforged Sanctuary
Assassin
+ Renais becomes more powerful throughout the fight with Momentum stacks. These increase her attack, crit chance, crit damage, lifesteal, and give her immunity to control effects at max stacks.

+ Counterattacks enemies whenever an ally is attacked, applying Holy Seals that deal true damage, and Quash stacks that increase their damage taken.

Arthur
Lightforged Sanctuary
Control
+ Arthur does consistent damage, and all of his attacks apply Bind, which makes the enemies unable to use their skills. Additionally, he deals damage based on their current HP, lasting for two turns.

+ Whenever a stack of Bind is removed, he gains a stack of Apocalypse, which increases his effect hit rate and speed, while also firing Cross Darts that deal great damage and apply Holy Seals.

Azmodan
Reclusive Kindred
Guard
+ Azmodan is a different kind of tank that believes the best way to protect his allies is to destroy the enemy team. Deals massive damage that scales with the enemy's HP and applies Cursed Armor to them, which increases the damage dealt by your whole team.

+ Undying Demonlord prevents him from dying once per battle, healing Azmodan back up and wasting the enemy's efforts, while also rewarding them with a fresh ultimate to the face upon his revival.

Aurora
Lightforged Sanctuary
Assault
+ Aurora deals great damage by herself, while also applying Light Trace stacks to enemies every time she does, making them take increased magic damage.

+ She does bonus true damage every time she attacks an enemy that already has a stack of Light Trace on it, and also applies Holy Seals with her ultimate.

Ying Gou
Arcane Web Phantom
Control
+ Ying Gou is an amazing addition to any Infect-focused team, seeing as she can apply it herself and deals bonus true damage to enemies, depending on how many stacks they have on them.

+ Pairs perfectly and has a Fatheful Bond with one of the best units in the game, Ling, giving them both a 15% attack bonus, making it even easier for the two of them to decimate everything in your way.

Lilith
Arcane Web Phantom
Control
+ Lilith deals very serious damage while also applying Infect.

+ She always prioritizes the lowest HP enemy, making sure that the battlefield never has any stragglers left.

+ Surging Desire gives her a massive damage boost when attacking low HP enemies, making her an even better executioner, while her ultimate Evernight Return also deals damage to every other enemy if it kills the main target.

Alucard
Reclusive Kindred
Assassin
+ Alucard prioritizes the enemy with the lowest defense, dealing great damage and applying Bleed, while also boosting his crit rate.

+ Every time an enemy gains Bleed stacks by any means, he gets a stack of Bloodlust, which gives him an attack and crit rate boost. After 10 stacks, he enters Demonkin Form, which further boosts his damage and removes the cooldown from his ultimate, resulting in a swift resolution to the battle.

Sherry
Reclusive Kindred
Support
+ Sherry can apply Bleed to all enemies with her skill, which works great with her faction.

+ She can also heal her whole team back to full HP with her ultimate, while also giving them a Crit Rate I buff.

+ She boosts allies' basic attack damage passively and does amazing damage herself, especially for a support, which is further boosted by her Hex stacks that detonate and deal true damage to enemies.

Isabella
Reclusive Kindred
Assault
+ Isabella does amazing AoE damage that scales with the enemy's HP with her ultimate.

+ Her skill deals serious damage by itself, but also applies Bleed.

+ She shields herself after using her ultimate, which gives Isabella great self-sustain, but also gives her a damage boost equal to 20% of the enemy's HP whenever she has a shield, regardless of whether it's her own.

Rose
Demonhunt Blade
Assassin
+ Rose deals amazing single-target and AoE damage, while also triggering extra basic attacks every time she kills an enemy.

+ She gains stacks of Chill every time she attacks and even more after killing an enemy. These stacks have a chance to trigger her passive Bloodthirst Twinblades every time she finishes an attack, commanding all her allies to launch a basic attack.

Elegy
Demonhunt Blade
Assassin
+ Elegy does an insane amount of damage because everything he does gives him a crit rate boost, making it very easy for him to trigger critical strikes consistently.

+ His Sniper Focus stacks further increase his crit rate and crit damage, while also giving him some utility by letting him apply Sigil when he crits, which happens more often than not.

Garvin
Demonhunt Blade
Guard
+ Garvin is an amazing protector that applies Radiant Holy Shield to himself and the ally that needs it the most, absorbing damage and lowering the probability of receiving a critical strike.

+ Even though he's a defensive unit, his ultimate does insane damage that scales with his maximum HP, which is a lot to say the least, while also inflicting enemies with Crit Down I.

B Tier - Good Characters

These are all still good characters that you can use throughout Twilight Chronicle, but they either need a team to be built around them some more in order to unlock their full potential, or even though they're good units by themselves, there are others in the higher tiers that do their job better.

CharacterDetails

Dark Tide
Demonhunt Blade
Guard
+ Dark Tide deals some incredible damage considering his class, while also being able to reduce the enemy's speed with stacks of Sigil, and even steal their critical strike chance.

+ When at low HP, Reaper's Power activates, giving him bonus crit damage and recovering his HP at the end of each turn.

- Both his skill and ultimate cost HP to activate, which can lead to awkward situations where he can reduce his own HP to zero; thus is very reliant on you having a healer in your team.

Albert
Lightforged Sanctuary
Support
+ Albert provides great shields to your team, keeping them safe from harm, while also giving them Final Damage II and a decent effect resist rate buff.

- His damage is basically non-existent, and the shields he grants can't be stacked, leading to awkward moments when he targets an already shielded ally.

Ada
Lightforged Sanctuary
Assault
+ Her damage scales throughout the battle, and she debuffs the enemies with Crit Down I and Attack Down I, massively reducing the damage taken by your team.

- It takes Ada a bit to get set up, due to her true damage potential only being active once the enemies are debuffed, which she can thankfully do herself.

Tinplate
Arcane Web Phantom
Guard
+ Tinplate protects allies by taking onto himself some of the damage they receive and can Taunt the enemies, forcing them to focus on him with only basic attacks, making him a great source of disruption.

- While he's a great protective unit, that's pretty much all that he does, with very low personal damage and no way to buff his allies, so he gets outclassed by some other tanks.

Kira
Arcane Web Phantom
Assassin
+ Her Assassinate passive always makes Kira focus a specific enemy and grants her bonus damage when attacking them, while both her skill and ultimate inflict Scratch stacks, reducing the enemy's defense.

- While she's a good standalone unit, her kit doesn't really benefit her faction's main focus, which is Infect, so it leads to some awkwardness when building a team with her.

Heidi
Arcane Web Phantom
Support
+ Her skill heals the whole team, while her ultimate heals the lowest HP ally back up to full.

+ Heidi can also apply Infection Potion to two of the strongest allies, allowing them to heal themselves on attack.

- She's a pretty simple healer, and she does her job, but she doesn't offer anything special in her kit, and is outclassed by someone like Raphael.

Valendine
Reclusive Kindred
Assassin
+ Valendine is a great executioner that specializes in killing enemies with low HP and defense, with his passive straight up executing anyone left with 15% or less HP, and his ultimate resetting and activating again if it kills its target.

- While he does insane damage, it has to be noted that that's all he does, with no further utility to help his team. This doesn't make him a bad unit, but he does get outshined by other units that do more.

Jacob
Reclusive Kindred
Guard
+ Jacob always goes for the biggest threat, because his attacks prioritize the enemies with the highest attack and heals equal to a percentage of the damage dealt, making him very hard to put down.

- Doesn't do much for the team, other than being a wall of meat between them and the enemy team.

Theresa
Demonhunt Blade
Support
+ Her heals apply Crit I to allies and can dispel negative effects from them.

- While her heals are strong, they don't affect many allies at a time, giving Theresa a disadvantage when compared to other healers.

Uncle Ying
Demonhunt Blade
Assault
+ Uncle Ying gets stronger throughout the fight with his stacks of Amulet buffing his skill damage, and his attacks can apply Sigil to the enemies

- He attacks random targets every time, making it a dice roll whether he'll attack the ones you need him to attack the most.

C Tier - Skippable Characters

While I wouldn't call them entirely unusable, there are just way better options out there, with even some lower-rarity units being able to match them. They still have the higher stats of an SSR+ unit, but are not worth investing in heavily.

CharacterDetails

Dracula
Reclusive Kindred
Guard
+ Dracula can inflict enemies with Cowardice, which reduces their ultimate damage, and Bleed, which deals damage over time.

- He's a guard that doesn't protect his allies in any real way and instead focuses on damaging enemies, which he isn't even that good at.

- The only source of self-sustain he has is through his Demon Energy charges, but only when it's full, meaning he might die long before that ever happens.

Orpheus
Arcane Web Phantom
Assault
+ Orpheus can do some nice AoE damage with their Improv Performance skill, which can also be automatically triggered every time they get attacked by an enemy hero.

- Their damage can be pretty underwhelming, even when everything goes your way.

- Part of their kit only works on enemies with Infect on them, which they have no way of inflicting themselves, and the Zeal stacks provided by their passive give pretty underwhelming buffs. Just a much worse version of Michael.

Bathory
Reclusive Kindred
Control
+ Bathory can apply Bleed and Attack Down I to enemies, which also gives her Fire of Flames stacks that explode into a burst of true damage when maxed out, and block the affected enemies from taking action for two turns.

- While she has great potential in theory, her whole kit relies on her applying those Bleed stacks, but they only have a 40% chance of triggering, making her a very RNG-dependent character.

Twilight Chronicle Character Tier List FAQ

Can I reroll my account?

Yes, you can simply log in to a guest account and delete the game if you're not satisfied with your initial pulls. Just make sure to bind it to your email address once you're happy with it.

Is it worth it to reroll your account in Twilight Chronicle?

While you can get a great start with most of the SSR+ units in the game, rerolling your account is so fast that I do suggest it if you really want to start with an S-tier unit.

What's the best faction in the game?

While they're all viable and fun to play, the Lightforged Sanctuary is my favorite and, in my opinion, the best overall, due to its effects and high unit quality.
