How to Dismantle Items in Hytale

Don't know what to do with your old gear you no longer use? The best course of action here is to simply dismantle it, and you can do this by building a Salvager's Workbench. This is a specialized workbench you'll use solely for breaking down some items into materials you can then reuse. Here's how to do this, step by step:

  1. From Pocket Crafting, create a basic Workbench.
  2. Upgrade the Workbench to Level 2 (this requires Iron Ingots, among other materials).
  3. In the Level 2 Workbench, open the Crafting tab and locate the Salvager’s Workbench.
  4. Craft the Salvager’s Workbench and place it anywhere in your base.
  5. Interact with the Salvager’s Workbench.
  6. Insert any weapons, armor, or tools you no longer need into the designated Input slot.
  7. The dismantling process starts automatically, and recovered materials appear in the Output section.
  8. Collect the materials and repeat as needed.

Important Note: The process begins immediately once you place an item into the Input slot. The game will not ask for confirmation, nor will it preview the materials you’ll receive in return.

How to Repair Weapons and Tools in Hytale

If you don’t want to dismantle your worn-out gear and would rather keep using it, you can repair it instead. Repairing items doesn’t require a special workbench, only a consumable item called a Repair Kit, which fully restores your gear. As with dismantling, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to repair items in Hytale.

  1. From Pocket Crafting, create a basic Workbench.
  2. From the Tools tab, select Repair Kit (the first item in the menu).
  3. You'll need x2 Linen Scraps, x1 Iron Ingot, and x1 Light Leather.
  4. Once crafted, equip the Repair Kit in one of your quick slots.
  5. Select the Repair Kit by pressing the assigned Quick Slot number.
  6. Right-click to open the repair menu.
  7. Select an item you wish to repair and confirm your choice.

Important Note: A single Repair Kit can be used only once to fully repair a single item, upon which it is consumed (you no longer have it). A repaired item will have its maximum durability lowered by up to 10% each time you repair it.

PRO TIP: Crafting a Repair Kit isn't cheap. When using a Repair Kit on an item, consider the cost of the kit vs. the value you get from repairing that particular piece of gear.

Hytale Dismantle & Repair Items FAQ

Should I dismantle or repair an item in Hytale?

If you no longer plan to use an item, or you have another item that does the same thing better, you should salvage materials from it. If you still plan on using an item, repair it.

Can I see what materials I’ll get from salvaging an item before destroying it?

In-game, no, the game will not tell you what you will get from destroying a weapon, armor, or tool. You only see the materials after the process is already completed.

Does the Repair Kit fully repair an item in Hytale?

Yes, but there’s a catch. Each repair restores the item to 100% durability, while permanently reducing its maximum durability by up to 10%.

Are there higher-quality repair kits?

At the moment, no, there's only the one described above. However, the developers might add new types of repair kits in the future.
