Death in the Box FAQ
At its core, Death in the Box is a brutal game of elimination. Winning isn't just about outlasting the clock but also about outmaneuvering every other soul in the room. You need to know when to pull back and when to force the opponent's hand. Remember, sometimes it's all about luck when it comes to the cards.
The clown pulls one of four items: a Gun (which may fire at the targeted player, potentially eliminating them unless they have a protective card), a Throwing Cleaver (which targets a player for elimination unless countered), Cards (distributed with random effects), or a Bomb.
Once the Clown ignites the fuse and hurls the explosive at a target, the round transforms into a game of Hot Potato. This frantic minigame forces the current holder to quickly pass the device to another player before the timer expires.
Cards include: Shield (protects from the clown's attacks), Vengeance (eliminate another player), Thief (steal a card from another player), Skip (skip your turn when targeted), Tutelar (give a one-time Shield to another player), Magnet (draws the clown's attention to you), Prize (earn rewards for eliminations or surviving), Mounted (doubles your vote), and Death (instant elimination unless countered).
