Which Is the Best Starter to Choose in Catch A Brainrot?
The three starter options are Boneca Ambalabu, Frulli Frulla, and TungTungTung Sahur. All Common rarity with no elemental advantages over each other, so the matchup system doesn't factor into this choice at all. What matters is their starting moves.
Boneca Ambalabu and TungTungTung Sahur are the better picks. Both come with Shield (the best defensive move available early) and Bomb (a strong offensive move), giving you coverage for both taking hits and dealing damage from the start. Both defeating and catching wild Brainrots reward EXP. The higher the rarity and level of the Brainrot you fight, the more EXP you earn. For the most efficient EXP per minute, find the lowest level wild Brainrots you can defeat in a single move, one-shotting them consistently beats slower fights against tougher opponents for raw EXP farming.
NPC Trainers
Fighting the NPC Trainers (like ones who hold the keys) scattered across zones also gives a significant amount of EXP. These are worth prioritizing not just for zone progression but as a strong supplementary EXP source alongside wild Brainrot farming.
EXP Candy Machine
There is an EXP Machine located in World Center outside the Rot Lab where you can purchase EXP Candy with Robux. Each candy feeds directly to a Brainrot and grants 240 EXP. This is a paid option but worth knowing about if you need a quick boost.
NOTE: Any Brainrot that is dead, either fainted during a fight or already dead before one begins, receives zero EXP from that fight. Make sure your active Brainrots are alive before starting a fight if you want EXP.
How Do You Farm Player XP in Catch A Brainrot?
Player XP is separate from Brainrot EXP and levels up your character, unlocking Rot Boxes and items in the shop as you progress. There are two main sources:
Capturing New Brainrots
Every time you catch a Brainrot that completes a new index entry, you receive Player XP based on the captured Brainrot's rarity:

Killing Wild Brainrots
The fastest method when you are short on Rot Boxes. Defeating wild Brainrots (reducing them to 0 HP without catching) drops Coins, with the amount scaling based on the Brainrot's rarity and level.
Capturing and Selling Brainrots
The most profitable method per Brainrot. Selling a caught Brainrot returns 5x more Coins than just killing the same one. The trade-off is spending a Rot Box on each capture. If you need Coins fast, grab a stack of Wooden Boxes, catch low-level Brainrots nearby, and sell them for a quick profit.
Opening Chests
Chests are scattered across the map and reward Rot Boxes and Coins on opening. They refresh after a fixed cooldown and can be opened an unlimited number of times, making them a reliable passive Coin and Rot Box source.
How Do You Teleport in Catch A Brainrot?
Open the in-game map by tapping or clicking the map icon in the top right corner of the screen. Find the nearest Rot Lab on the map, select it, and press Teleport to instantly travel there.
This is especially useful when your Brainrots faint mid-run and you need to heal without walking back across the entire zone. You can also mark locations on the map for reference, but teleportation is exclusively available to Rot Lab locations. You cannot teleport to arbitrary map points.
How Do You Unlock New Zones in Catch A Brainrot?
Zone progression in Catch A Brairot is entirely linear. You cannot skip through them. Each world gate requires a specific crafting material collected from NPC fights before the next area opens. Here is the full unlock chain:
- Zone 2 (Rot Forest): Defeat NPC key holders in Rot Forest to collect 3 Keys. After that, collect 3 more Keys to access the Goatini Freezini Boss fight. Defeating the boss unlocks World 2.
- World 2: Defeat NPCs in World 2 to collect 3 Wood. Use the Wood to build the bridge in the gym and proceed to the next zone.
- World 2, Zone 2: Collect 3 Iron from NPCs to craft an Iron Pickaxe, which lets you enter World 3.
