There are many new features in SpellForce 3 Reforced over the original. They do not affect the main storyline but instead add features outside of it. Therefore, the original game's length provides a good indication of how long the remastered version should take. There will, however, be significant differences in the extra content.

It will take many hours to complete the side content in the Reforced edition due to new game modes. The game will also include a new Skirmish map. Here is some added time for each new feature.
- Journey Mode - 20 hours of "replay value and unique content"
- Arena Mode - at least 5-6 hours of content if rushed
- Mod Support - Additional time may be required depending on how many mods are made
- Brand New Skirmish Map - at least another hour
- Journey Skirmish - at least another hour
