How to Beat the Second Boss, Sean The Fighter, in Sifu?

Avoid and repeat.

After you've brawled your way through the sprawling Club map in Sifu, you will encounter Sean The Fighter in a two-round one-on-one battle that's going to test everything you've learned about dodging so far in the game.

This fight is all about opening up opportunities through your defensive skills. For the first round:

  • Take a defensive posture, let The Fighter come to you.
  • Pay attention—he will telegraph where he's aiming just before swinging.
  • Dodge to either side for vertical attacks.
  • Duck for horizontal attacks.

After he sends a volley of attacks, he will briefly pause. Use this window to spam him with heavy attacks. Make use of the arsenal of bo staffs along the walls for an added boost of damage, as well. Stay patient—dodge and attack until you get a takedown prompt, sending you to the next phase.

For those who don't mind repeating a technique, simply grab a pole from the wall and wait for his charge. Dodge the first charge and when he's about to attack again, throw the pole at him. He will then be open for three heavy hits. If you repeat this with every polearm, he will only have a handful of hits until he's defeated.

After a brief cutscene, you'll move on to the second round. The environment is now charred and burned, leaving you with no more weaponry in the area. In addition, The Fighter has added one more move to his repertoire—he'll go for your legs now. Your strategy won't change in this phase of the fight, as The Fighter's combos are the same except for the added leg sweep attack. Proceed as follows:

  • Use your step-back dodge to avoid his leg sweep attack.
  • Repeat first strategy—dodge attack flurries, attack when your window presents itself.

The Fighter's health and stagger bar take a while to whittle away but keep hammering him with heavy attacks after dodging and you'll soon be the victor.
