What is error Roblox Error code 280?

Error Code 280 is related to the version of Roblox you currently have installed. If you get Error code 280 while trying to load a Roblox game, it means the version you have isn’t the current version and that your device isn’t able to update to the current version. It may also come up if your network settings are configured in a way that prevents Roblox from updating. Finally, on the Roblox end, the error can show if there are server issues with the game. You’ll find a list of fixes below.

  1. Check if Roblox is down: Go to the official Roblox Status Website to see if any of the systems you are trying to access are listed as down. If everything is listed as Operational, then keep reading. If it is down, you’ll just have to keep an eye on things until Roblox is back up.
  2. Check for updates: Opening your Roblox App should automatically check for updates. If any are pending, allowing these updates will usually fix a 280 error.
  3. Check the time and date (PC): The time on your computer may need to be set correctly to match up with the Roblox servers. Go into Settings and choose the option relating to the Time and Date. Choose your current time zone from those available and save, then restart Roblox. If this was the issue, Roblox will now be able to sync and you should no longer get the Roblox 280 error.
  4. Force stop Roblox (mobile): Open Settings on your mobile device. Find Apps-Roblox, click on Force Stop, then OK, to make sure it is not running in the background. Now open Storage on your device and choose Clear cache and data.
  5. Reinstall Roblox: If none of the above methods fix your issues, it’s time to reinstall Roblox. On PC, you’ll need to go to Add or Remove programs, find Roblox on the app list, and uninstall. Once done, restart your PC and reinstall Roblox from the official site. Restart your device, then restart Roblox.

If these methods don’t solve your Roblox 280 error, it is likely the system is down but this is not yet widely reported. Hopefully, with a little patience, it will be back up and running soon.
