Upon reaching the endgame in Diablo 4, you may come across an enemy with a suspicious purple aura surrounding it. This aura, as you might suspect, is bad news, but just how bad news is it? What's the deal with these purple enemies anyway? Well, in case you want to know, I happen to know all about these purple menaces, and why you should get rid of them as soon as you see them. Here's everything you need to know about them.
Diablo IV Champions explained
Diablo 4 calls those strange purple enemies Champions, and they exist to make your runs much harder. You see, the purple aura they have represents their status, and just by existing they grant the rest of their hellish allies a potent damage resistance buff. This buff makes all enemies near the champion significantly more difficult to kill, and it might even ruin your rotation because of how much more durable packs of enemies near Champions are.
This is precisely why so important to kill them as soon as they appear. Unlike the allies they empower, Champions are just regular enemies. They aren't any stronger than normal, and they don't even get their own damage resistance aura.

The problem is that sometimes it can be difficult to deal with them when you're being swarmed by their demon friends. I am a level 60 Rogue that uses Penetrating Shot as my main damage spender, and that skill does not stop traveling in a line, making it super easy for me to deal with them. Other classes, like the Sorcerer, can just drop their spells right on top of Champions for an easy kill.
So yeah. Kill the enemies with purple auras so that you can demolish the rest of the demon horde they're protecting with ease.
