How to fix Fortnite error while checking for updates

Fortnite needs a stable internet connection to play, so imagine the frustration of millions of players who are currently unable to work around this issue. Players can neither log in nor matchmake, which might have something to do with the update. The game is currently fixated and says it's checking for updates.

Below are a couple of things you can do to fix this:

  1. If it's a network issue, try restarting your game and make sure you have a stable internet connection.
  2. You can try restarting your PC/Console on which you play the game.
  3. Make sure you verify game files. To do this, click on the Epic Games Launcher. Locate the game in your library, and you will find the dots on the top right. Then, click on the verify button and simply wait for the process to complete.
  4. If none of the above methods work, you can try to uninstall and reinstall Fortnite.
