Baldur’s Gate 3 Dog Collar, Explained

A beloved canine companion.

Baldur's Gate 3 is full of secret items hidden in every corner of the game. The most memorable item I've found so far is the Dog Collar, which I found at a grave in the Underdark. At first, you might think it doesn't have any use, but exploring the Underdark further reveals its true purpose. Here's everything you need to know about the Dog Collar in Baldur's Gate 3.

How to get the Dog Collar in Baldur's Gate 3

The Dog Collar can be found on the western side of the Underdark in Dread Hollow, pictured above. To get it, you must find and interact with a tombstone; it's on the cliff overlooking the Duergar beach at X:-42 Y:-209.

I recommend taking the lower path to get to Dread Hollow. Taking the upper path will put you into combat with an enemy named Filro the Forgotten, along with deadly creatures called Hook Horrors. They don't have any bearing on the Dog Collar, and you can avoid them completely by taking the other route.

When you interact with the tombstone, you'll learn it's dedicated to someone named Myrna. If you have a shovel in your inventory, you'll have the option to dig up the grave. Do so, and you'll learn that Myrna was really a beloved dog. Her collar will appear on the ground next to you, and you can pick it up.

What does the Dog Collar do in Baldur's Gate 3?

Though the Dog Collar is apparently inscribed with runes, it doesn't seem to have any magical properties. However, if you travel to the Arcane Tower—south of the tombstone—you'll learn that Myrna belonged to Lenore, a cleric who built the tower.

Once you get past the turrets and repair the elevator, you can find a button (pictured above) in the northeast corner of the second floor at X:-26 Y:-271. The button is next to a bone and an empty bowl, which were most likely Myrna's.

Equip the Dog Collar and interact with the button. A raw steak will appear in the bowl on the ground. You can only do this once, but a raw steak provides 10 camp supplies, so it's handy to have the next time you need to long rest. For the most part, this is just a neat piece of environmental storytelling; there's no quest associated with the Dog Collar, but it adds an emotional touch to the mystery surrounding the Arcane Tower.
