Best nature for Swinub, Piloswine, and Mamoswine in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

The Abominable Snowpig.

Swinub and its evolutions couldn't be in a better position in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. Dragon types like Baxcalibur are so popular that a strong Ice type will always be welcome. Of course, it's hard to beat out things like Chien Pao, but Mamoswine can fulfill the role of a wallbreaker, and part of that comes with the right nature.

Which is the best nature for Swinub, Pilosine, and Mamoswine in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

The best natures for Swinub, Piloswine, and Mamoswine in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet are as follows:

  • Jolly (+ Speed, - Sp. Atk)
  • Adamant (+ Attack, - Sp. Atk)

Mamoswine usually runs a set with Jolly. It's not the fastest Pokémon in the world, but 284 Speed will let it move first against things like Bisharp and max-Speed Heatran. Mamoswine can also use a Choice Scarf, in which case it would want to maximize its Speed.

One interesting fact about Pokémon Scarlet & Violet is that not many Pokémon hit that middle-Speed tier anymore (232-273). This is why it makes sense to run Adamant Mamoswine: it might be more valuable to double down on Mamoswine's Attack rather than its Speed. That way, it can really break through walls like Corviknight, Toxapex, and Garganacl.

How to choose the best Nature in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

To choose a good nature, a trainer is going to have to ask what kind of role their Pokémon will serve. In Mamoswine's case, if it's just on the team to hit bulky Pokémon hard, then it might as well run Adamant to fulfill that role.

Even though Speed is arguably the most important stat, it's only relevant depending on what the Pokémon needs to outspeed. Mamoswine will never be able to outspeed a Dragapult naturally, but it doesn't need to because Mamoswine also gets Ice Shard, a priority Ice move.
