How to do Brutalities in Mortal Kombat 1

Brutality over Fatality.

Fatalities and Brutalities have been fan favorites in the Mortal Kombat series as far as we can remember. While Fatalities are more popular, Brutalities happen during gameplay while you're still fighting. I'll tell you how to initiate a Brutality in MK1 below.

How to start a Brutality in MK1

A Brutality is a finishing move—a flashy series of hits you can perform on a player once they've lost all of their health during a very short window, while a Brutality key or button combination is initiated as a last-hit, with the key or button input beginning the series of hits on a player.

The default Brutality buttons are the same (e.g. Triangle + Down Arrow on PS4) for The Klassic (Uppercut) Brutality, while more Brutalities will unlock with more combinations of keys and buttons as you level up a character's Mastery, gaining access to a whole arsenal of finishers to add to your list.

You can see the button or key combinations for Brutalities and Fatalities both as you pause the game or go into settings and view your control settings. Once done, you can simply press the buttons any time you can tell a player is one hit away from death.

If you can go with the gore, Fatalities and Brutalities are a great way to showcase how far the gaming world has come since the start, when the animations or physics of games weren't anywhere near what they are today.
