As the release of Diablo 4's Season 2, Season of Blood, draws nearer, there has been confirmation that the game will be making its debut on Steam. Diablo 4 is Blizzard Entertainment's second title to arrive on the Steam platform, the first being Overwatch 2 earlier this year.
When will Diablo 4 be released on PC?
Announced via a developer live stream, Blizzard confirmed that Diablo 4 will be released on Steam on October 14, 2023. Many fans are praising the addition of Steam to the list of the game's available platforms, but it does come with a serious caveat for players already playing through Battle.net.
According to the live stream, players of Diablo 4 who wish to play the game on Steam will be required to purchase the game a second time to do so. It has not been made clear as to why there is such a limitation since Diablo 4 is an account-based title.

The release of Diablo 4 on Steam conveniently coincides with the release of the title's Season 2 update, making it a solid place for interested players to jump in. Additionally, the Steam version of Diablo 4 will fully support cross-platform and cross-progress with all the currently available versions of the title. The Steam release will also come with seamless achievements and friend list integration.
Diablo 4, as a title, started off with a strong showing at its initial release but quickly fell off its stage due to a myriad of technical problems and questionable gameplay design choices. Perhaps with the Steam and Season 2 release update, the game can get back on a proper footing with its player base.
