A Grappler is the perfect tool to help reach those high spots around the map, hiding essential materials like Rough Amber. It'll take some upgrades to get it, and here's how!
How to craft a Grappler in LEGO Fortnite
A Grappler is a Rare item listed under the Equipment tab, symbolized by the torch icon, on the Crafting Bench. It works exactly like the Grappler in Battle Royale modes, helping you grab onto ledges and pull yourself up to hard-to-reach areas. However, it will only have 10 uses. When they run out, you will need to craft another one. It will require a few different materials to make:
- Copper Bar x3 (Made from smelting Copper)
- Cord x10 (Made by spinning Plant Fiber)
- Blast Powder x3 (Dropped by explosive enemies)
If you don't see the Grappler listed in your Crafting Table, then you probably need a bench upgrade.

How to upgrade your Crafting Bench in LEGO Fortnite
To craft Rare items, you will need a Rare Crafting Bench. You can upgrade your bench within the Crafting Bench menu and in the next tab, 'Bench Upgrade.' The first upgrade you can do will allow for Uncommon items, and then Rare will be the following. You'll need these materials to upgrade it:
- Knotroot Rod x12
- Marble Slab x15
- Sand Claw x6
- Sand Shell x3
Once you have the upgrade complete, you should now see Rare items available in your crafting recipes, including the Grappler! Now you can get around so much easier.
