Where is the Ladsman in Sorris Square? – Sovereign Syndicate

Patience is holding By a Thread.

During Chapter 2 of Sovereign Syndicate, Dolores Chen (owner of the Laundry at Red Lantern Lane) gives Clara the task of finding the ladsman in Sorris Square. However, the Ladsman is nowhere to be seen, so where do you find him?

How to find the Ladsman in Sorris Square - Sovereign Syndicate

The Ladsman is no other than Carlisle McGrady, the same man Atticus found arguing with the cutpurse girl down in the sewers (in Chapter 1). If you are like me, you may have broken up their conversation by having Atticus throw a barrel at him; the first time I went to find him in Sorris Square and couldn't find him, I thought the barrel impact had taken him out of the picture (unalived, so to speak).

However, this is not the case. The way some quests (or Tasks, as the game calls them) work is they can't be solved until chapters are further ahead. This is the case for this quest, which can't be solved until Chapter 5.

Sovereign Syndicate is a game that requires patience. This is what you'll have to do to close up the quest on the Ladsman:

  • Complete Clara's quest of speaking to Madam Zora and finish Chapter 2.
  • Play through Chapter 3 with Teddy Redgrave.
  • Play Chapter 4 with Atticus again.
  • During Clara's second Chapter (Chapter 5) you will be able to find the ladsman at Sorris Square, standing in a corner in front of Nandi's shop.

Unless Atticus killed McGrady with his sword in Chapter 1, he will show up at Sorris Square for Chapter 5. If, instead, you had chosen to hit him with a barrel, there's a funny conversation to be had with him in Chapter 4, when Atticus finds him in The Crimson Herring Tavern at St. Katharine Docks.

When Atticus approaches him, you get the chance to say "Still alive, I see. Hope last night sorted you out, if you catch my meaning." To this, he will act confused since he doesn't recognize you and reply he has ever since put that filthy job behind him and made himself a legitimate livelihood: dog racing and fixing fights. Well, it's always nice to hear when someone is setting themselves straight.

How to complete the task By a Thread in Sovereign Syndicate

Dolores Chen has been pressed by the police and has asked Clara if she can talk to the Ladsman, from the Dockhounds. When you finally find him during Chapter 5, Clara can convince him to fix the issue by passing an Intellect check and afterwards scolding him about the orphans.

  • Once you finish the negotiations with McGrady, go back to the Red Lantern Lane and speak to Dolores.
  • If you've asked her for identification documents during Chapter 2, she will reward you with those.
  • She will also gift you a fan, for your Fan Collector task.
  • And with that, the task By a Thread is completed.
