In Palworld, the various Pals you capture are a significant source of your power because of the Pal Skills they know. No amount of firepower will ever match them, so it's important to know how to gain new Pal skills at every step during your adventure.
How to learn new Pal Skills in Palworld
There are two ways your Pals can learn skills in Palworld. The first is the most straightforward method of leveling up your Pals. If you've ever enjoyed a Pokémon game, then this method is as basic as it sounds. Your Pals gain experience through practically every possible activity in Palworld, and with this experience comes level-ups. When your Pals level, they'll learn new skills based on their default path. A Cinnamoth will always learn Seed Mine at level 32, for example.
However, your Pals can learn skills by consuming Skill Fruits. Skill Fruits are fruits that you can find throughout Palworld that can teach your Pals a specific skill based on which skill is in the fruit's name. For example, I fed my favorite Pal (a Vanwyrm named Nasro) a Dark Skill Fruit: Dark Laser, which allowed him to learn the Dark Laser Pal Skill. By teaching Nasro this skill, I can always switch to it as necessary, and can even activate myself by mounting him.
There are a lot of different Skill Fruits in Palworld, and the process of searching for them is one of the game's most important gameplay loops. Some Pals may learn many of the skills you'll find on Skill Fruits normally, but if you want to teach a specific skill to a specific Pal, you can with these special fruits.

Like with Pal Skills themselves, there are two ways to obtain Skill Fruits in Palworld. The first way is to find Skill Trees (yes literally trees) throughout the world.
These trees are rather large, and stand out significantly from all others. You cannot cut them down because Skill Fruits will grow on these trees periodically. The fruits themselves are visibly hanging from the branches of Skill Trees, so make sure to pluck them all for your usage. The Skill Fruits you pluck from these trees are random each time, so it is worth returning to the trees once you find them.
The second and more common way you'll obtain Skill Fruits is by looting chests. Skill Fruits have a chance to drop out of any chance in Palworld, with them being more common in higher-level chests and areas. They are most common from end dungeon chests after you defeat a dungeon's boss. This will likely be where you'll see Skill Fruits drop normally.
