What is the answer to the algebraic spiral question in P3R?
On 4/27, you'll get a classroom scenario wherein the Math teacher, Ms. Miyahara, will randomly ask Junpei which spiral is not an algebraic spiral. Before scratching your head with this question, the correct answer is A.
To explain the answer, you need to have knowledge when it comes to spirals. There are a handful of algebraic spirals namely:
- Hyperbolic Spiral
- Archimedean Spiral
- Galilean Spiral
- Fermat's Spiral
Based on the choices presented by Ms. Miyahara and what I know from a visual standpoint of Algebraic Spirals, I deduced the following results:
- Option B looks like an Archimedean Spiral.
- Option C appears to be a Fermat's Spiral (A.K.A. Parabolic Spiral).
- Option D resembles a Hyperbolic Spiral (A.K.A. Lituus Spiral; they have the same Cartesian Equations).
This leaves us with Option A being the outlier among the choices since it's a Logarithmic Spiral. Instead of being in-depth about how spiral equations work, I explained the answer in this method since you'll be able to visualize and understand the problem better.
Since options B, C, and D have a corresponding algebraic spiral (from a visual standpoint), the odd one out is Option A, which means it's the answer to this tough question.
