Best builds for Yuffie in FF7 Rebirth

We have a few build options for you to try out. Seek a build that suits your playstyle, or use one that fits your party setup!

All Elemental Ninja Yuffie Build

I mentioned in the beginning that Yuffie is able to harness all elemental damage types, but switching from one element to another takes time and requires an ATB gauge. This build will ensure Yuffie has the ability to target an enemy's weakness by exploiting the Elemental and Dual Element materia.

SlotsEquipment Name
Weapon4-Point Shuriken
ArmorOldebeast Bracelet
AccessoryAureate Pinion or Speed Demon Keychain
SummonIfrit
Materia 1 (Weapon)Elemental
Materia 2 (Weapon)Fire and Ice
Materia 3 (Weapon)Steal
Materia 1 (Armor)Elemental
Materia 2 (Armor)Lightning and Wind
Materia 3 (Armor)Empowerment Materia/Precision Defense Focus
Weapon Skills 1Weapon Ability Damage +5%
Weapon Skills 2Max HP + 200/Any Elemental Damage Up
Spell Shortcut 1 (L1 + Square)Art of War
Spell Shortcut 2 (L1 + Triangle)Blindside
Spell Shortcut 3 (L1 + Circle)Brumel Form
Spell Shortcut 4 (L1 + X)Windstorm

Since this build consists of all elemental affinities, let's tackle my recommended Folio nodes for this build:

  • Cyclonic Kick
  • Ninja Bazooka
  • Enhanced Attack
  • Synergy Damage Up
  • Shuriken Sync
  • Elemental Damage Up
  • Hunter's Precision
  • Opening ATB Bonus
  • Max HP Up
  • Faithful Thief
  • Synergy Damage Up
  • Precision Defense ATB

The goal of this build is to give Yuffie as much D.P.S. (Damage Per Second) with her lightning-fast attacks that can adjust elements accordingly. At first, I was hesitant to use a build like this, but I tested how the Elemental Materia reacts to shifting weaknesses on the Musclehead Colosseum challenge, where you'll fight a White Mousse in the end.

Mini Experiment with Elemental Materia:

To summarize my mini experiment, I pitted my upgraded Lightning Build Tifa against the White Mousse. It's Tifa with an Elemental Materia + Fire and Ice, and Plasma Discharge, which covers three elementals except Wind. To my surprise, Elemental Materia automatically shifts to the monster's elemental weakness.

Moving on to Yuffie, since she's another character that has almost the same playstyle as Tifa (in terms of DPS), Yuffie will greatly benefit from this setup as she can continuously throw out her Shuriken and let it do the damage for her. Alternatively, her melee attacks pack quite a punch as well, so you can use that to close in on a staggered enemy for even more DPS!

Lightning Speed Demon Yuffie Build

This is Yuffie's version of the Lightning Build from Tifa and Cloud. I initially thought that the Lightning Build will quickly fall-off in the mid-game but it still puts up a heck of a fight.

SlotsEquipment Name
WeaponTwin Viper
ArmorEnhanced Gold Coral Amulet
Accessory Speed Demon Keychain
SummonIfrit
Materia 1 (Weapon)Precision Defense Focus
Materia 1 (Armor)First Strike
Materia 2 (Armor)Steadfast Block
Materia 3 (Armor)ATB Stagger Materia
Materia 4 (Armor)Enemy Skill
Weapon Skills 1Weapon Ability Damage +5%
Weapon Skills 2Shuriken Mastery
Spell Shortcut 1 (L1 + Square)Art of War
Spell Shortcut 2 (L1 + Triangle)Blindside
Spell Shortcut 3 (L1 + Circle)Brumel Form
Spell Shortcut 4 (L1 + X)Windstorm

Now, let's take a look at my recommended Folio Nodes for this build:

  • Cyclonic Kick
  • Ninja Bazooka
  • Enhanced Attack
  • Synergy Damage Up
  • Shuriken Sync
  • Elemental Damage Up
  • Hunter's Precision
  • Snow Flurry
  • Wildfire

Yuffie already has Lightning and Wind elemental attacks through Plasma Discharge and Windstorm. All that's left to cover is a dedicated Fire and Ice ability, which you can level up through the Folio Nodes.

The trick for this build is to cast Plasma Discharge on your first ATB gauge, and wreck havoc as you teleport from one enemy to the next. Throw out your Shuriken, and let it rip on the enemy until your ATB gauge is about to fill up, then teleport to it so you can proc Plasma Discharge once you get close to the enemy.

Once you're in close-quarters range of the enemy, cast any of the three elemental abilities (i.e. Windstorm for enemies weak to Wind, Snow Flurry for enemies weak to Snow, and Wildfire for enemies weak to fire). If the enemy is weak to lightning, don't bother casting any abilities. Just keep alternating between Art of War and Brumel Form (when the enemy is about to attack).

Thief-Support Yuffie Build

This build revolves around Yuffie's Steal ability, and we will optimize her Item usage through a few materias.

SlotsEquipment Name
WeaponSavage Dagger
ArmorEnhanced Gold Coral Amulet
Accessory Speed Demon Keychain
SummonIfrit
Materia 1 (Weapon)Precision Defense Focus
Materia 2 (Weapon)Steal
Materia 1 (Armor)Item Master
Materia 2 (Armor)Luck Up
Materia 3 (Armor)Item Economizer
Materia 4 (Armor)Time
Weapon Skills 1Precision Defense ATB
Weapon Skills 2Precision Defense Regen
Spell Shortcut 1 (L1 + Square)Art of War
Spell Shortcut 2 (L1 + Triangle)Steal
Spell Shortcut 3 (L1 + Circle)Brumel Form
Spell Shortcut 4 (L1 + X)Windstorm

As with every build, we'll talk about my recommended Folio Nodes:

  • Cyclonic Kick
  • Ninja Bazooka
  • Enhanced Attack
  • Shuriken Sync
  • Luck Up
  • Master Thief
  • Opening ATB Bonus
  • United Refocus
  • Max HP Up
  • Faithful Thief
  • Synergy Damage Up
  • Precision Defense ATB

This build's primary ability is Steal, where Yuffie will attempt to take an item from an enemy. Speaking of Items, the build can also provide a lot of team support with the Item Economizer and Item Master materia. Both of these materias allow Yuffie to expend a more potent version of an item without expending her ATB gauge.

The Thief-Support build is perfect for a party setup like Tifa and Cloud/Red XIII, as Tifa can deal a ton of damage on her own, while Cloud can tank attacks. The only missing role is support, and that's where Yuffie can shine, as she can build a lot of ATB while providing healing and buffs for her team.

The only downside of this build is that not all enemies drop consumable items when you use Steal. For this issue, I recommend utilizing the Item Transmuter to craft consumables before every major boss fight or even Classified Intels.
