Manor Lords developer urges players to stop cheesing with town walls

Cheese situation.

Manor Lords early access is not even out yet, but the developer Slavic Magic is already asking players to stop cheesing. In trying to find a way to beat the system, content creators and journalists who had first access started building walls around their towns using the castle planner tool, thus breaking the game.

Taking the "sandbox game" concept to another level, players used castle-building tools in a way the developer hadn't considered. Castle walls should not go around the town as that creates logistical problems for villagers. But it also confuses raiders, which is a good enough reason to look for a loophole.

While it's understandably problematic, it's still a fun way to trick the game, especially as this is a single-player game, so no harm, no foul. If you're curious about what cheesing with town walls looks like, you can see our screenshot below. Of course, don't try this at your home manor!

While this was hilarious, it also opened the door to more great news. The developer has confirmed that regular town walls, towers, and gates are planned for future Manor Lords updates. So be kind, stop cheesing, and be patient, as reinforcements are on the way. (And where there are walls, there are siege machines, so please add them, or else players will probably find a way to use oxen to break down fortifications!). Manor Lords early access is coming to Steam and Game Pass on April 26, 2024.

When the developer asked players to refrain from doing this, the community reacted as you might expect:

This is not the first time developer Slavic Magic has wanted to give more details regarding Manor Lords. Check out how Manor Lords developer says this is not the game you think it is on Pro Game Guides.
