Sand Land Stealth Mode Complete Guide

An enemy! *Ducks*

Stealth missions in Sand Land are a whole different kind of beast. The first one that you complete isn't too difficult and you get to enjoy several of the mechanics that stealth mode brings to this action RPG. However, as the game progresses, the stealth missions become more complex, including new elements that you may not have encountered in the previous mission.

How to use stealth mode in Sand Land

When a stealth mission starts — or you want to slip into stealth mode for fun — you can choose to enter stealth mode by pressing B on your keyboard or L2/LT on your controller. You don't need to be on a stealth mission to employ stealth tactics. You can be as sneaky or loud as you like around peaceful areas without attracting unwanted attention.

The best way to use this stealth mode is to hide behind objects and stay out of sight. Stealth mode in Sand Land is essentially a crouching skill; though it's less crouching and more bending over a bit to duck your head.

You're first introduced to stealth while playing Thief and stealing water and food from the first town you reach after leaving Demon Village. While running around in a Santa Clause costume is certainly hilarious, that stealth mission does give you a good idea of how the stealth mechanic works in Sand Land.

How to secretly pass by enemies in Sand Land

While using stealth mode during missions in Sand Land, you'll notice that your enemies have an alert indicator above their heads in the shape of an inverted triangle. This is white when they have no idea that you're there (their back is to you, they're facing or walking away), yellow when you're slightly more noticeable (they're facing you but far enough away that you can get away with it), or red (you can and will be spotted).

Another indicator used is the question mark symbol. If this pops up at all, a nearby enemy has started to notice you. The longer you stay in their line of sight, the more color fills the question mark until it's full and it changes to an exclamation mark.

You're in trouble if this happens.

But actually, you're not. Because Sand Land's stealth mechanic is very easy-going and the game is very forgiving. Instead of being attacked, you'll just get a fade-out and be put back at your last checkpoint.

How to stop enemies from noticing you in Stealth Mode

To stop enemies from noticing you in Sand Land, you'll need to use a variety of stealthy techniques. This includes using stealth mode to crouch behind objects and creep around corners, diving under fences and tent tarps with a gap in them, and crawling through cargo boxes.

You can also quickly dash between one hiding place and another if the distance is short enough. Utilize any ladders and wires that you see to get around an area by using the rooftops rather than the ground. Stealth missions will have you use a combination of all of these techniques to complete the mission without being caught.

Killing enemies in stealth mode

The other major stealth kill that the game teaches you about is stealth killing. It's a bit of a weird one, actually, because you need to come out of stealth mode right behind your target to then press the key or button that kills them. On PC, this is the F key, and it's the Triangle or Y button for a controller.

Pressing this key or button will make Beezlebub jump up in a straddle position, and the enemy will scream with a horrified face and fall down. Whether it actually kills them or not... I couldn't say. I have no idea what goes on there and I'm not sure I want to know.

That's everything there is to stealth mode in Sand Land. Enjoy... scaring people to death? I don't know.
