Most MW2 attachments serve no purpose in MW3, fans say

Just a bunch of useless mods!

When Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was revealed, it was announced that the game would carry forward all the weapons and attachments from the previous game (MW2). While Warzone had guns from three different CoD titles simultaneously, it was the first time something like this was planned for multiplayer. Unfortunately, it now seems like MW2 attachments and weapons are redundant in MW3.

The game doesn't only have a long list of weapons but an even bigger set of attachments, most of which are never used by players. User RainOfJustice recently posted on Reddit a meme (see above) showing how good most MW3 attachments are compared to their weaker MW2 counterparts while comparing stats.

Chryonicc commented, "The fact that they added the MW2 guns to the game and never bothered to fix this is still really annoying." The goal was to convince players that the money they had spent on purchasing cosmetic skins in MW2 wouldn't go to waste so soon and could be used in the next game. The developers could have tried balancing the older guns to make them more potent, but evidently, that didn't happen.

Another Redditor calls the carry forward useless, and I can't agree more. Because of this transfer of assets from MW2, MW3 is now cluttered with too many weapon and attachment options. The availability of guns from various games works well for Warzone Battle Royale, but it's not necessary for CoD Multiplayer.

Some attachment types such as muzzles, underbarrels, and lasers are shared across the weapons of MW3 and MW2. This means when you customize your gun, you'll see a wide range of attachments from both games but the ones worth using are the new ones from Modern Warfare 3. For instance, the Quartermaster Suppressor is the best muzzle to use in Warzone because of its minimal cons. On the other hand, MW2 suppressors like Echoless-80 and Harbinger D20 will put you at a disadvantage due to their big list of cons and are hence futile.
