Best Black Myth Wukong Steam Deck settings for better performance

Black Myth: Wukong, despite being a very resource demanding action RPG, is shockingly fully playable on the Steam Deck. Here, I'll be walking you through the best settings to achieve the best possible performance.

Firstly, it's important to note that you won't be getting anywhere close to 60FPS on this title, even at the lowest possible settings, so the aim will be to get 30FPS as consistently as possible for the smoothest possible experience. Thankfully, this is achievable, and whilst not perfect its most certainly playable overall.

First, I'll list off the most important graphics settings to change, and then list any additional changes you can make afterward.

SettingValue
Framerate CapOn - 30FPS
Super Resolution SamplingFSR
Super Resolution80
Frame GenerationOff
Graphics PresetLow
Anti-Aliasing QualityMedium
Texture QualityMedium

Setting your graphics preset to low saves you the hassle of manually changing them all yourself, meaning you only need to change the two listed.

One additional thing worth doing is done when launching Black Myth: Wukong through Steam, where you'll want to choose to run the game in Compatibility Mode. This reduces some of the more intense frame drops (especially during loads), whilst not effecting the quality in any real way. Battery wise, this game is gonna bleed it dry, and no settings adjustments are going to make any notable impact on that. You're looking at only about an hour and a half of battery life from full charge during play, so might be best to play this one from the comfort of home.

Hopefully with some time for more user pre-compiled shaders to pop up, and some performance patches, this game can get some additional performance improvements, so everyone can experience the joy of absolutely mangling some poor mug with a stick in a convenient hand held package.
