Best Ability Items Tier List – Sparking Zero (Dragon Ball Sparking Zero)

Equip the best ability items to give yourself the edge you need in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero has proven to be one of the year’s most enjoyable releases, but also one of its toughest. The enemy AI is no joke as antagonists from the series like Great Ape Vegeta and Goku Black can give you a rough time if you've not clued yourself up on the various combos and gameplay mechanics. Thankfully, Sparking Zero has dozens of ability items to enhance your favorite characters in battle.

Sparking Zero’s capsule ability items can be used to make a lower-tier character like Dodoria more usable, or make someone like Ultra Instinct Goku even more OP than he already is. Like Sparking Zero’s characters, even the lower-tier ability items offer viable benefits.

S-Tier ability items in Sparking Zero

S-tier ability items are the best choices for the toughest of fights. If you’re struggling winning tournaments or Custom Battles, equip some S-tier ability items to push yourself closer to victory.

I personally really like Rush Attack Boost 3 and Ki Blast Attack Boost 3 as they increase Sparking Zero’s basic controls that you’ll be relying on. Because vanish attacks are so crucial to battles, you can’t discount Vanishing Break and Vanishing Crash either; you’ll often get locked into vanish sequences with the CPU, and these capsules will ensure you come out on top. Because ki and skill counts are so vital to everything you do in combat, Rising Fighting Spirit and Secret Measures are some of the best capsules as they’ll start you off with a full ki gauge and an additional skill point at the start of battle, respectively.

Power of Earth and Power of the Universe are some of the most useful capsules as they increase all abilities based on what map is selected. Power of Namek does the same, but because there’s only one Namek map, we’ll bump that down to the A-tier as its uses are more limited and you don’t want to annoyingly swap it out every battle if your map isn’t Namek.

A-Tier ability items in Sparking Zero

Ability capsules are rated with one, two, or three stars in the game, and you’ll find our A-tier made up of mostly two- and three-star ability items.

Even though Master Strike reduces maximum health, it increases the damage of rush attacks, smash attacks, and rush chains – the majority of Sparking Zero’s combat – making the debuff a worthy risk. Plus you can essentially counter it with something like God of Destruction Training, which increases maximum health.

Dragon Heart is another great capsule as it’ll slightly increase your skill count after dodging blasts with high-speed movement. You’re going to want to dodge your enemies’ blasts anyway, so why not turn those enemy attacks into your gain and increase your skill count?

B-Tier ability items in Sparking Zero

You’ll find most of the top-level basic stat buffs in the B-tier, like Ki Black Attack Boost 3 and Ki Blast Charge 3. Capsules like these are great ways to make the most out of your ability items compared to something like Miracle Master, which has very specific criteria to be useful and may not even activate during battles as it will have you automatically dodge non-Ki blast attacks when downed.

Even though it’s a one-star capsule, Combo Master is one of the most useful ability items. You’ll be aiming to string together punishing combos anyway, so there's no reason not to utilize an ability item that increases damage with consecutive combo attacks. Dende’s Healing Ability and Warming Up are great ways to passively heal, and Rising Tension can give any fighter the benefits Androids have by making your Ki gradually increase during battle.

C-Tier ability items in Sparking Zero

Capsules in the C-tier show just how useful all the ability items are in boosting characters. They’re all viable in battle, and which ones you gravitate towards will depend on your preferred fighting style.

Most of the tier is made up of lower-level buffs in basic stats, like Smash Attack Boost 1 or Rush Ki Blast 1. King Kai Training is great too with its maximum health increase. As some characters will start with more health bars than others, this is an advantageous way to even the playing field.

Battle Control, which increases Switch gauge recovery, is helpful for team battles after your current character takes a lot of damage and you need to quickly swap them out. Super Transformation can be a great C-tier capsule for DP fights; by lessening the skill count needed for fusions and transformations, you can quickly turn your C- or B-tier character into an A- or S-tier fighter.

D-Tier ability items in Sparking Zero

D-tier capsules are ones you most likely won’t use often. They’ll offer minuscule buffs in highly specific stats. You’ll usually be better off just equipping capsules from the higher tiers if you want those buffs, like the rush attack or smash attack boosts. Still, some of them might be helpful, like Water’s Blessing if you’re playing on the Islands map or Performer if you’re a fan of using emotes in battle.

The worst capsules in Sparking Zero are the ones that reduce stats to balance out their benefit, and you’ll find even D-tier capsules can reduce your stats. While High-Speed Movement Master and Super Movement Master help you stay in Sparking Mode longer by reducing the amount of the gauge needed for their respective movements, the defense debuff that comes along with them just makes the capsules not worth their upgrades.
