Where to Find Paint Cages in Clair Obscur Expedition 33

Paint Cage is a unique loot container that holds rare items. The only way to access the items is to find and shoot three locks, which also look like the Paint Cage but are smaller in size.

NOTE: We'll keep this guide updated if we uncover more Paint Cages during our playthrough.

Paint Cage Location in the Flying Waters Area

This is the first Paint Cage that you reach automatically as a part of the game's story. After the cutscene in the Flying Waters area, you will find the first Paint Cage behind the big anchor on a platform. However, if you skip shooting the locks, the puzzle is missable. So make sure you do that before moving forward with the story.

The first lock is on the back side of the anchor. The second lock can be found west of this, behind colorful, tall plants. The third lock is found by looking at the opposite side of the second lock on a rock. We have inserted the images above for each lock's location, so you should be able to get them all easily.

Breaking all locks will give you access to the loot item inside the Paint Cage, which will be a +1 Chroma Elixir item.

Paint Cage Location in Stone Wave Cliffs Area

First Paint Cage Location

After reaching the Entrance Rest Point in the Stone Wave Cliffs area, you will find a blue crystal giant on the left and another path on the right. Take the right path, and when you climb up, you will fight Expedition 78 journal and a narrow opening between rocks that will take you to the Paint Cage of Stone Wave Cliffs area.

  1. If you take the path on the left from the Rest Point, then this Paint Cage will become missable.
  2. The first lock is right behind this Paint Cage, behind the boat.
  3. To reach the second lock, you will need to climb the upper platform from the right side, and you will find it right in front of you.
  4. The third lock can be seen opposite the second lock, but at a greater height. Just turn around from the second lock's location and look up to find it.
  5. You will get the Delaram weapon for Gustave after breaking all the Paint Cage locks here.

Second Paint Cage Location

After reaching the Old Farm Rest Point in the Stone Wave Cliffs area, you will find the crystal stone golem at the center of the area. The second Paint Cage in this area can be found at the end of the left path that goes up.

The first lock can be seen by looking to the east of the Paint Cage on a crashed cone-shaped roof. The second lock is inside a room of a building with no roof. Finally, the third lock is located west of the Paint Cage on a rock. After breaking all locks, pick the loot item, and you will get the Duenum weapon for Maelle.

Paint Cage Location in Forgotten Battlefield Area

The easiest way to reach the Paint Cage in the Forgotten Battlefield is to backtrack from the Ancient Bridge Rest Point. Go to the trenches you passed through and you will find the Paint Cage in one one the corners.

The first lock is inside the wooden boxes near the Paint Cage. Break the boxes by shooting them to reveal the lock. The second lock is found directly opposite the Paint Cage, above one of the other trenches in the area. To find the last lock, go to the adjacent trench's corner, and you will find it on the ground.

You get a Chroma Elixir Shard item, which means you now have +1 Chroma Elixir in your inventory, after getting all locks of the Forgotten Battlefield Paint Cage in Clair Obscur Expedition 33.

That is pretty much everything you need to know about all Paint Cage locations and how to find their locks in Clair Obscur Expedition 33. For more tips about the game, consider reading our best Maelle skills and the best Lune skills in Clair Obscur Expedition 33 guides.
